The most beautiful, quintessentially English, "chocolate box" cottage - the perfect place to escape at any time of the year.

I've been staying at Barnfield Cottage for a number of years - and I feel my shoulders drop as soon as I turn into the driveway. It is everything a cottage should be - beautiful thatched roof, wood burning fire for the evenings, hand-built kitchen and the most gorgeous Aga. I can't recommend Barnfield enough.

Our first impression was "Wow!" and that is exactly what we were looking for when booking a week's holiday. We weren't disappointed! Bratton Fleming is a lovely village and a great choice and location for days out.

We loved this quirky cottage, where the owners have generously stocked the house with childrens' toys, beach essentials, sports equipment , utensils and we have had a wonderful time here. Situated close to Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay and Combe Martin beacheds it is also well positioned to enjoy the beautiful countryside.

We all had a fabulous time during our stay and thought the character and style of Barnfield was beautiful. I had never cooked with a stove before but soon got to grips – it really is the ‘centre’ of the home. The bonus of my parents staying downstairs and not having to tackle the ascent each evening was very much appreciated by them!

Just a quick message to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Barnfield Cottage. We had a truly wonderful weekend and the setting and the cottage itself were absolutely beautiful. We have already recommended it to friends and very much hope to be back in the future.

We had a very enjoyable stay, felt very at home and relaxed with everything we could possibly need – and more! We made the most of the dry weather– a circular walk around Lynton and Valley of the Rocks, a walk over Countisbury Headland to the Lighthouse and down to Heddon’s Mouth. Lovely meal at the Black Venus in Challacombe. Overall a fantastic weekend. Fantastic accommodation and a helpful, friendly host. Thanks for having us!

Many thanks for our stay in your fabulous cottage. The Boys really enjoyed the Games Room. We all had great nights in front of the woodburning stove. Beautiful countryside also a pleasure. We did one of the circular walks from the leaflet in the Welcome Book.

Thank you for a lovely stay at Barnfield Cottage. The cottage was a perfect layout for two+ families. Great location central to all the attractions we wanted to visit. We were very grateful for all the children’s items – cot, basket of useful items, toys and books. Thank you for the delicious cake, crisps, biscuits and wine on arrival – a lovely surprise! Hope to visit again soon.
