Two major historic and sporting subjects adorn the county of Berkshire:- Windsor  Castle and Windsor Great Park, a favourite home of the Royal Family and also the most continuously occupied castle in the world, and just down the road, Ascot Heath, where classic flat horse-races are run in front of celebrity-filled grandstands, and you could have a lucky bet.  The countryside is home to two National Trails, the Ridgeway and the Thames Path across the North Wessex Downs.  Walk alongside, or even hire a longboat, to experience the relaxing Kennet and Avon Canal , or visit the great artificial lake, Virginia Water.  With its many rivers and waterways, sailing, too, will  give you so much enjoyment.
