Birch Cottage Holiday Cottage Description
Sorry, no pets.
In the heart of the beautiful Lake District National Park this delightful quaint 200 year old traditional stone terraced cottage of character is situated in the little hamlet of Edinboro, off the Kirkstone Road on the edge of Ambleside.
The peaceful hillside setting above Stock Ghyll Force (you can hear the famous waterfall from the cottage garden!) faces due south and has a glorious view to Wansfell Pike and to Loughrigg. An ideal base for touring, walking or climbing. You can choose to just relax or enjoy spectacular hikes right from the door – take an easy walk by the lakes to Rydal or Grasmere or go over Wansfell to Troutbeck, climb Red Screes, Loughrigg or the Fairfield Horseshoe.
The small, friendly market town of Ambleside - nestled amidst the fells of Fairfield, Loughrigg and Wansfell, at the head of Lake Windermere - is only 5 minutes walk from the cottage. There is usually something of interest here: flower show, Christmas lights, sports day etc. You will find also find a Tourist Information Centre, post office, late night Spar & Coop, butchery, bakeries, fish n’ chip shops, pubs & cafes, excellent restaurants, cinema, live jazz, interesting shops, banks, museums, the Windermere ferry & buses [open top in summer] to other lakes and attractions.
Much loved by its owner and visitors alike Birch Cottage provides a real 'home from home' - an ideal place to relax after a long day out. Laid out on three storeys, it is comfortably furnished, tastefully decorated with natural materials & well-equipped throughout. Cosy even in winter, there is full gas central heating as well as a fire in the lounge. Beds are traditional pine with firm mattresses & duvets. Electricity & gas are included in the price. Linen and towels with beds made up available if required.
