Byre Cottage, Lochgilphead - Argyll, sleeps 4 and has 2 bedrooms

Byre Cottage is on two levels with a level entrance so may be suitable for disabled access. It is next door to Stable Cottage and is a mirror image although each cottage has its own particular character. Byre Cottage is more private and has a larger master bedroom with king size bed. On the ground floor there is an entrance hall, a bathroom with shower, wc and wash hand basin, a living/dining room and kitchen. The cottage has central heating from our log fired boiler which also serves the house, workshop and Stable Cottage. We operate the boiler - all you have to do is adjust the radiator thermostats.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need for self catering, including a dishwasher, microwave, double oven cooker with ceramic hob, toaster and kettle. The cottage also has a washing machine and there are drying facilties opposite the cottage in an open barn.

The living room has an lcd tv with digibox, DVD and Hi-Fi/CD player. There are lots of books, magazines, tourist information and OS map. One of the two leather settees is also a sofa bed for occasional use or for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. Free wi-fi is available although coverage is patchy due to the thick stone walls. Mobile reception is not very good so we provide a payphone which can receive incoming calls.

Upstairs there is one double bedroom with king size bed and one twin bedded room with a cot. There are exposed beams and coombed ceilings. We have stairgates, high chair and baby bath if required.

Linen, towels, central heating and up to 150 units of electricity are included in the price. The cottage is well equipped so that you don't have to think about bringing lots of equipment.

We are interested in reducing our impact on the environment by using energy efficient appliances and lights and by generating electricity from photo voltaic panels and heat from logs. There are recycling facilities to limit the amount that goes to landfill. None of these measures will affect your comfort and the savings we make is spent on improving facilities for our visitors.
