The cottage overlooks the village green in the centre of Exford. The village has a Post Office, village shop, garage, tea rooms, the Crown Hotel and the White Horse Inn. Both these hotels have excellent restaurants for non-residents.
Exford is a walkers paradise with many miles of way marked paths down the valley following the river Exe, or over the moors of Exmoor to the coast, some 6 miles away.
Exford is renowned for hunting, shooting, fishing and riding with the village hosting a horse show every August.
The Exmoor coastal towns of Lynmouth, Porlock and Minehead are a short drive away whilst Taunton and the M5 are only 26 miles away.
Exmoor is a beautiful place to visit. It is the home of Lorna Doone and Tarka the otter. It is a place of rolling hills, medieval villages, wild moors and a dramatic coastline. The moor does literally meet the sea with the highest sea cliffs in England.
In 2011 Exmoor National Park was designated an International Dark Sky Reserve, the first place in Europe to achieve this prestigious award and only the second in the world.
