Hafton Castle is a beautiful historic building nestling next to the loch in Hunter's Quay, just outside Dunoon on the Cowal Peninsula.

The Castle is a large holiday home, totally self-catering and can accommodate up to 42 guests in 19 en-suite bedrooms.  The living accommodation comprises sitting rooms, a dining room, a library and a large conservatory, providing plenty of communal space for the 42 guests.

There is a large indoor swimming pool, a games room with snooker and a children's playground.

There are lovely grounds in which to walk, play and picnic and plenty of parking.

Dunoon has a lively film & arts culture, with one of the most popular festivals in the town being the Dunoon Film Festival, which takes place every year in September. The 3-day festival showcases local and international filmmakers, including additional events and exhibitions. The event is hosted in the Dunoon Burgh Hall, the town’s culture and events hub, in a grand and visually striking building. The hall offers workshops, concerts and art exhibitions all year round.

Elsewhere in Dunoon are plenty of supermarkets, traditional grocers, butchers and delicatessens to keep your romantic holiday cottage stocked with delicious food. If you don’t fancy the thought of cooking on holiday, there’s a healthy choice of restaurants and takeaways serving everything from international cuisine to hearty pub food and local ales.

Dunoon’s museum is in a spectacular castle house nestling beneath the hills surrounding the town, offering great views of the Firth of Clyde. The Castle House Museum explores the history behind the town and castle.

The Riverside Swimming Pool and Health Centre is Dunoon’s bustling leisure centre, and having been recently refurbished is one of the big tourist attractions in the area. There are several pools and flumes, perfect for kids and adults alike.

Dunoon has one of the last standing Victorian piers in Scotland and was one of the most popular attractions on the Firth of Clyde. Most of the pier now remains closed due to safety concerns, but it contrasts nicely with the neighbouring hills in Gourock and the calm water in the Clyde behind it, making for a perfect photo opportunity!

A regular ferry service runs across the Firth of Clyde to the towns opposite Dunoon, Gourock & Greenock. Greenock is a historic industrial town with an extensive maritime history, reflected at the Custom House Museum. All in all, Dunoon welcomes culture and history lovers or those that want to spend a relaxing or romantic holiday in beautiful surroundings on the west coast of Scotland.
