Edinburgh is of course a festival city, best known for the Edinburgh International Frstival and the Fesitval Fringe, it also hosts festivals for literature, film and TV, food and a host of other events, all well worth including within your holiday. At other times of the year, use the Lothians as a base for whisky trails.
The National Museum of Flight in East Fortune houses an original Concorde aircraft within one of its four hangers stacked with civilian and military planes covering the history of flight.
Golfers can enjoy a stimulating holiday with plenty of attractive and challenging courses to choose from in the Lothians. For something different, try a round on the Old Course at Musselburgh using traditional hickory wood clubs hired from the clubhouse. There’s a children’s course too at the North Berwick Golf Club. Horse riders can enjoy a bracing gallop along the sands at Seacliff where the Seacliff Stables have horses to hire. For a very different kind of activity head for Foxlake Adventures near Dunbar whose attractions include a wakeboard park and a ropes course. Kids will love it.
