Find My Favourite Holiday Cottages in Fleckney

Nestled in Leicestershire is the gorgeous rural village of Fleckney, perfect for a peaceful or romantic holiday. Walk the village streets and you’ll find its warm, welcoming pubs, such as the traditional Old Swan Pub and the Axe and Square. Before sitting down for a cool pint of local ale, you can enjoy a wide variety of shops, such as local embroidery shops, several dress shops and plenty of book shops. For a sip of good coffee by day and live music or comedy at night, visit the Crumblin Cookie. Alternatively, a ten-minute drive out of Fleckney brings you to Wistow, where you can spend an afternoon with the kids getting lost in Wistow Maze – proud winner of Leicestershire’s ‘Best Visitor Attraction’ award. Redesigned each year, the maze has several look-out points to display the beautiful natural life surrounding it – and when hunger strikes, there are plenty of picnic tables dotted around the site.

Once in Wistow, you will also want to visit Johnson’s Old Hurst. A charming farm shop and tea room, this place features spacious playing fields for the kids, with farm animals and toy tractors a-plenty and an enclosed crocodile enclosure!

Alternatively, Mill Field Wood is a short walk from Fleckney, perfect for a sunny day. With over 18 acres of wood, Mill Field is under the care of the Woodland Trust. Fascinatingly, this was built as a millennium project in 2000 A.D., where the people of Fleckney planted oak, ash and field maple trees. Wander back into the centre of the village and you’ll find the pond, a lovely spot to sit and eat lunch and watch the mallard ducks swim.

A self-catered cottage in the quaint village of Fleckney promises to bring a balance of relaxation and lively fun to families, with plenty of spots for lazy afternoon rambles or action-packed days out.
