Langdale View Holiday Cottage Description
Langdale View has an enviable location amid some of Lakeland’s most spectacular scenery. Everywhere you look is natural beauty! By road it is only 4 miles from Ambleside, 5 from Coniston & 3 from Grasmere. Grasmere is nearer on foot! If you fancy an easy delightful walk - it's easy to get to Elterwater, Rydal, Ambleside, Skelwith Bridge etc on foot for a fantastic day out. The Cumbrian Way runs along the outskirts of the village.
At the entry to the Langdale valley on the outskirts of Chapel Stile with fine views from every window, the cottage faces due south & is an ideal base for touring, walking or climbing.
Stroll 250 yards back to this quaint little village whose church holds the famous Langdale Tapestry. The local shop, said to be the friendliest Co-op in England, sells delicious local produce. For excellent food, Brambles Café, Langdale Country Club and Wainwright’s are all in the village.
At least 3 more excellent pubs [eg the fantastic Three Shires & Old Dungeon Ghyll] are in walking distance. A step away is the river, woods and a tarn to paddle in on warm days. For a day of swimming, sauna, pampering, get a leisure pass [£9.50 adult, £7 child for the whole day or £7 eve in 2011] for the luxury spa at the Langdale Country Club [which also has a top class restaurant] at the other end of the village.
Enjoy countless delightful walks right from the door. Climb the famous Langdale Pikes, hike over to Grasmere, stroll along the river to Elterwater or along the Langdale Valley to Dungeon Ghyll or take the bus to Ambleside and on to Kendal Keswick and other Lakes. By car, avoid the traffic and take the back road to Grasmere, Coniston, Hawkshead and the ferry to Windermere. For real wilderness, the Wrynose and Hardknott passes are nearby and lead over the mountains to the little Eskdale railway & the sea!
Langdale View is perfect in any season to relax, enjoy nature away from it all! Leave behind the hassle of daily life.......Ideal for romance, friends or family
Basic price includes fuel and is for up to 4 people. Extra for 6 & if linen required

We really enjoyed our stay in Chapel Stile. Extremely lucky with the weather – who’d have thought you’d get sunburnt in March! – then home to Langdale View – a lovely cosy comfortable & well-equipped cottage. We look forward to our next visit.

This was a lovely place to recuperate from a long flight from Australia. It is a beautiful spot. Definitely a cosy retreat.

Thanks for a lovely stay. Really cosy stay in the snowy weather – the heating and fire kept us all very warm. We enjoyed the food and drink in Wainwright’s and the Coop in the village was very handy. We were able to visit some lovely places and enjoy nice wintry walks. I’m sure we will be back.

Had a lovely holiday. Very well equipped, warm and cosy – perfect. Great weather – able to get out every day despite the ice. For a fantastic walk right on the doorstep try the ‘hill’ you can see from the front window. A really good relaxing holiday. Can’t wait to come here again.
