Old Maids Cottage, Lee, Devon

Old Maids Cottage, Lee

Award winning, historic and lovingly restored thatched 3-bedroom cottage sleeping 6 in the beautiful Devon seaside village of Lee Bay. Pets welcome.

Once named ‘Fuchsia Valley’ because of the still to be seen hedges blooming with scarlet flowers in the spring and summer months – Lee really is a blissful sight. It comprises a quiet lane, overlooked by ancient dwellings, that gently winds its way down the valley to the rocky shore, which, at low tide, has a small beach and is a Mecca for rockpoolers.

It is just two miles away from Ilfracombe, a picturesque town with much to offer. Outstanding restaurants and pubs line the streets of Ilfracombe which face the sea and the pretty little harbour which hosts the Damien Hurst landmark – the enormous bronze statue, Verity. And around the corner from Ilfracombe is Woolacombe, regularly voted as one of the best beaches in the world. (and probably the best holiday cottages too!)

All these attractions are just a few minutes away from Lee and Lee Bay. You can walk from the Bay up round the coast using the South West Coastal Footpath to the impressive and awesome sight of Valley of the Rocks near Lynton and Lynmouth. These Jurassic rock formations produce an awe-inspiring setting, providing the best views in the area of panoramic ocean. Spend the day following the mountain goats up and over the craggy countryside back to your base in beautiful Lee.
