North End Farmhouse

Large Thatched Dorset Farmhouse Sleeping 14 and Welcoming Pets.

Northend is a large holiday home in Dorset offering pet-friendly self-catering holidays for families and groups of friends. The Farmhouse stands in an idyllic rural location in Thomas Hardy country, a mile inland from the beaches on the Dorset Jurassic Heritage Coast. It is perfect for all kinds of holidays with family or friends, from a traditional seaside holiday to cycling and walking holidays exploring the beautiful Dorset countryside or the South West Coast Path. Other nearby activities include sailing, golf, go-karting, horse riding and clay pigeon shooting. The Grade II-listed Farmhouse dates from the 16th Century, with features like the large inglenook fireplaces, the old bread oven and stone mullion windows, creating a real character property in a beautiful location. Old it may be, but it has been tastefully restored and equipped with all the modern comforts necessary to ensure you can enjoy a relaxing, carefree holiday in our corner of Dorset. The Farmhouse sleeps 14 in 6 bedrooms arranged as three doubles, a twin, a four-bedded with twin and bunk beds and, for those preferring to avoid stairs, a ground floor bedroom with two orthopaedic beds. This room has an adjacent wet room, while upstairs has two further family bathrooms and one en-suite bedroom. The house is not registered as disabled-friendly, but besides the ground floor bedroom and wet room, there is level access throughout the ground floor with plenty of turning space for wheelchairs. Living facilities include two lounges providing choices for times when not everybody wants to be in the same room. Catering for up to 14 guests means the kitchen is amply equipped with appliances and utensils, including a large twin over Aga and an equally large gas range cooker. All 14 guests can eat together in style, seated around a large olive ash dining table. The table, made by James Verner, a local craftsman, was made from wood on the farm. The Farmhouse has an impressive 12m x 5m Great Hall, a massive stone Tudor fireplace that still houses an open fire and a hidden stone spiral staircase! An additional two guests can be accommodated in The Old Cricket Pavilion (from the Symondsbury Estate cricket ground), a wonderful cottage for couples surrounded by a mature garden 50m from the Farmhouse. Northend Farmhouse stands in a spectacular rural location, overlooking its own (securely fenced) lake with glorious rural views beyond. It lies within easy reach of seaside resorts such as Weymouth, Lyme Regis and West Bay. At the same time, the historic and attractive towns of Dorchester, Sherborne and Bridport are also recommended for those wishing to explore more of Dorset's attractions. Weekend breaks are available outside the peak season when flexible changeover days are also available.

Secluded, welcoming farmhouse, fab for a big group!

We were a party of 12 and found Northend farmhouse really magical in its position at the end of a long winding drive so near to the ocean and surrounded by fabulous walks with a plethora of lovely beached nearby. Eddie welcomed us and was there to help when we needed it even providing us with a few forgotten items along the way! There was plenty of space for the 12 of us, the decor is simple and homely with some lovely pieces of furniture and little details. We had a fab time and would definitely recommend it for big groups, its a great party house!

perfect for all ages

I had a wonderful relaxing week with my children and grandchildren. Beautiful countryside, beaches and plenty of interesting places to visit with something for everyone. And such an idyllic old farmhouse to return to at the end of each day.
