Portland Hideaway Holiday Cottage Description

Welcome to our Holiday Cottage in Dorset

The term “studio style” doesn’t do justice to the Hideaway, which boasts a huge lounge/bedroom area, together with a separate generous kitchen/diner that can be closed off with double-glazed patio style doors. Double-glazed windows on three sides ensure that the Hideaway has a light and airy feel to it whatever the weather and the interior lighting from wall-mounted spotlights and lamps, provides a snug ambience that is complemented by a gas central heating system that keeps it cosy on chilly evenings.

It enjoys an ideal position with some of the best coastal and rural scenery that the UK has to offer in this unique part of the famous Jurassic coast. There’s a lot to do on Portland and walking, sailing, diving, climbing, surfing, paragliding, parasurfing, wind surfing, bird watching, archaeological digging and geological surveying are just some of the things to take advantage of. Then of course there’s the good old fashioned just lazing around and that's where the Portland Hideaway is ideal.

The lounge area is comfortably furnished with two setees and two fully reclining sun loungers are provided for use on the patio, which enjoys the sun from early morning to late evening.

Access to Portland’s network of excellent designated walks that circumnavigate the Island is just 100 metres from the Hideaway. The venue for the 2012 Olympic sailing and windsurfing events are some 3 miles away and the resort of Weymouth just 6 miles away. A bus service around Portland and Weymouth leaves every 7 minutes from just across the road. Of course, for many being on holiday means not cooking at all and you are well served by places to eat out on your doorstep. The 4 star Orchid Restaurant is some 250 metres away and the Weston Bistro is an easy 800 metre walk. Then of course there are a number of pubs also within walking distance and a bracing walk to Portland Bill on a Sunday morning will allow you to sample the great carvery at the Pulpit Inn looking across to the lighthouse and the Portland race.

When you do cook for yourself, you will find the high pitched beamed ceiling ensures that there is little heat build-up and the multiple spotlights give just the right atmosphere. Of course al fresco dining is also an option and the Hideaway patio area is a great place to barbeque, with wide roller patio doors door that let you open up the lounge area to take advantage of the pleasant evenings or sunny lunch time. Modern bathroom with shower cubilcle, low level wc and wash hand basin. Complementary ceramic tiling and high pitched, beamed ceiling. The gas combination boiler that provides the water for the shower was designed to cater for all the heating and hot water needs of a 4 bedroom house. This capability is reflected in the power of the shower, with its wide shower head that can wake you up in the morning, or calm you down after a long day of activity.

This property has been advertised on My Favourite Holiday Cottages since 11-01-2012
