Holiday Cottages in Sussex
Sussex, (or, as the old song has it -Sussex by the Sea ) .Its beautiful coastline embraces many Blue Flag beaches - Worthing, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Eastbourne, Brighton with its pier and the extravagant Royal Pavilion built for the Prince Regent in 1822, the little fishing harbour at Hastings - and the chance to see where King Harold fell in 1066 - even surfing at West Wittering, and the gloriously-named Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, three and a half of which are a feature of the Country Park at Seaford. Sussex is home to so many major events and festivals, the host towns all becoming internationally famous. Racing at Goodwood, opera at Glyndebourne (take your own picnic, complete with candlabra !), choir festivals in Chichester Cathedral, orchestral concerts in Goodwood House, and a Firework Proms at Arundel Castle. Arundel also has a Ghost Experience tour with maybe a haunting encounter in the old prison cells. Brighton, of course, is home to the two biggest festivals, one in May, and the Paramount Comedy Festival in October, featuring big names like Bill Bailey and Jo Brand. What could be more exciting than to attend the Henley Regatta and then move on to Wimbledon, the Mecca of world tennis? The Bluebell Steam Railway, the 14th century Bodiam Castle (Sussex has so many castles, an indication of its place in English history), and, from one extreme to the other, the Celtic Iron Age forts at Chanctonbury Ring to the Art Deco display at the De la Warr Pavililon in Bexhill. And a final major plus for this county is its record of racking up more sunshine hours than any other English county.
