The Chapel Holiday Cottage Description

The Chapel is a beautiful 13th century grade 2 listed building of historical importance, which is centrally located in Thanet and very convenient for visiting the many local sandy beaches and places of interest.

The building was originally a hall house and would have been the center of the village of Manston, where locals would have carried out business. Centuries later it became a farm house, and has now recently been converted into a luxurious 3 bedroom holiday property.

The property consists of a very large downstairs sitting room with exposed flint walls and a beamed ceiling. The 40 foot sitting room has a full size pool table, a very large television, several comfortable sofas, and a baby grand piano. And for those 'musically challenged,' the television with free view provides the musical entertainment. However, those wanting more interactive entertainment, a Wii and play station is available for guests to use. The windows in the sitting room which show off the 3 foot thick walls, are not only of architectural importance, but also help this lovely room to stay beautifully cool on hot summer days, and wonderfully warm on cold winter ones.

At the end of this amazing room is a beautiful reclaimed walnut staircase, which leads up to the modern fully fitted walnut open plan kitchen / dining room. The breakfast bar and dining suite make for a very family friendly kitchen, and perfect place for entertaining. The microwave and dishwasher also add to the ease of cooking for a family. The full length windows accentuating the thick walls, combined with the chandelier and beautiful kitchen, create a truly unique room. In addition, the unusual blue spotlights under the units, create the perfect ambiance for a relaxing evening around the dining table.

The utility room conveniently placed next to the kitchen, houses the washing machine and dryer, and the very important drinks fridge with freezer, and most useful additional toilet.

Past the kitchen, the hallway leads into the first bedroom. This exceptionally large room contains a king size four poster bed, with the essential chandelier, a triple wardrobe with top box, and a chest of draws, all from the Ducal range. The two arm chairs, the high ceiling and luscious soft burgundy coloured carpet, all give the feeling of luxury. The oversized doors leading to the well equipped ensuite completes this lovely room.

On the second floor there are two further double bedrooms, with exposed beams on the walls and a vertical beam in the middle, enhancing their character. Both have an inbuilt wardrobe, a small dressing table with mirror and chair, a rustic round chest of draws with matching bed side tables, and lamps. Both beds are 6 foot zip link beds which can easily be converted into two 3 foot single beds, for those wishing to have their own space. And most importantly, both bedrooms have their own ensuite.

Each bedroom has a 22" television with free view and DVD, allowing parents to be able to send their little darlings off to bed, while they get to further investigate the drinks fridge, and then put their feet up and watch something nice on the large television screen, whilst snuggling into the large squishy sofas. Equally, the little darlings could always send mummy and daddy off to bed with a DVD while they party! However children, please do remember, only the walls are 3 feet thick and not the doors, so keep the noise down!

Just in case you decide to bring the relatives, there are spare portable beds available. There is an additional double 4 foot divan bed as well as two 3 foot singles. The bedroom on the first floor could easily include all of these additional beds, or the bedrooms on the second floor could easily accommodate one or both singles. There is also a high chair and travel cot available for the younger guest.

A secluded garden at the rear of The Chapel is the perfect place for a nice barbecue, or for al fresco dining, or for just sitting with a nice drink and relaxing. This property is so recently developed that the garden is still a 'work in progress,' so along with the barbecue and seating area, there could be other benefits available by the summer time. If the young ones need to let off a little steam, there is a secluded hard surface play area, with a basket ball net, a short distance from the front of The Chapel. This area is not exclusively for the use of guests in The Chapel, as all guests at Manston Court can use it. Although close, it is far enough away from the garden, that the adults can have a drink or finish their meal in peace. Conversely mums, it is a great place to send dads to get some 'quality time' with the kids!

Finally, in the sitting room by the beautiful stair case, there is a servant's bell. There was also one on the upstairs landing by the kitchen until the builders lost it under the floor boards! However, the one thing missing in this amazing property is the servant. She says that she is definitely on strike for the forseeable future.....So push the bell at your own risk!

We look forward to welcoming you to The Chapel, and hope that you really enjoy your stay.
