Another lovely visit
This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this lovely cottage in Sandend and found it to be just as wonderful as our first visit 4 years ago. The cottage was still as fresh as before, everything well looked after and maintained, nice bedding, towels, bacon and eggs etc in the fridge and plenty of little extras to make your stay enjoyable, even a bunch of flowers in the lounge! Very cosy, homely and warm, fantastic situation what more could one want? Wendy does that little bit extra to ensure her guests are happy and well looked after We hope to return next year

Set in the picturesque ‘get-away-from-it-all’ fishing village of Sandend, between the pretty harbour towns of Cullen and Portsoy, this cottage has stunning views over the wide sandy beach from the kitchen, lounge and two front bedrooms. The elevated garden terrace and summer house, again with stunning views, are ideal for outdoor entertaining and barbeques. The enclosed garden and back utility/’wet’ area, along with fantastic coastal walks, makes this an ideal cottage for dog owners or walkers.
Children are welcome, but should not be left unattended in the garden – although fenced in, there are some drops from the elevated terrace. However, with a modern kitchen and totally refurbished bathroom, along with all the modern facilities you would expect, we are sure you will enjoy a break on the beautiful Banffshire Coast. This part of the North East of Scotland also lends itself to day trips, exploring the Castle trail, or partaking in a dram along the Whisky Trail or perhaps getting close to the dolphins and other wildlife along the Moray Firth.
Sandend is a 17th century fishing village, one of the smallest and perhaps one of the most attractive along the Banffshire coast. It is known by the privileged few as a mecca for surfers and kayakers and occupies a beautiful location opposite a pretty beach, perfect for catching the waves or just building castles in the sand. At its east end is the newly re-opened Glenglassaugh Distillery, founded in 1875 but mothballed in 1986 - and you can walk home after tasting some of it's delights! Nearby are the remains of the Glassaugh Windmill, built in the early 1700s. Still standing are a stump surrounded by a lower base: which explains its local name of the cup and saucer.
Nearby Portsoy is a vibrant town, attractive with it’s twisting streets around the 17th century harbour. It has a number of pubs and restaurants as well as local shops and a Co-op. It is also the home of the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival http://www.stbf.bizland.com/2010/ which takes place at the end of June.
In the other direction Cullen is also worth a visit. The cluster of cottages making up Seatown along with a wide expanse of sandy beach, are majestically framed by the arches of the disused railway viaduct. Cullen is famed as the home of ‘Cullen Skink’ – a lovely thick potato and smoked haddock soup, as well as one of the best ice cream shops in the area. The coastal walk between Cullen and Portsoy has been names by National Geographic as one of the best in the world!
Just a minute or two inland from Sandend, is the historic village of Fordyce. Here you will find a magical place, a warren of narrow streets still following a medieval plan, all wrapped around a magnificent centrepiece, Fordyce Castle, simply sitting on a bend in the village street. Parts of the old church yard date back to 1272 and the old bell tower has served as a prison, but now houses info panels about the village.
Prices range from £375 to £700/week.

Lovely home from home with stunning beach views
February 19th 2018
This was our first stay at Sandend Cottage but hopefully won't be our last! Well equipped and very pet and family friendly with lovely views onto the beach. Plenty of things to do in the area but also great if you want to take it easy.
Perfect seaside cottage
October 23rd 2017
This was our second visit to this cottage and it did not disappoint. It is situated across from the sandy Sandend beach. The kitchen, living room and 2 main bedrooms have lovely sea views. It was great to lie in bed at night listening to the crashing of the waves. The cottage is very comfortable and well presented. Beds and sofas are comfy. It is useful to have a second TV in the spacious single bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking for 5. It has a garden with direct sea views. It is perfectly located for exploring the Moray coastline. There are lots of quirky harbour towns and sandy beaches to visit. The cottage is very dog friendly and there is a spacious utility room. The long beach is on your doorstep and you can follow the coastal path in either direction. We enjoyed evening strolls in the dark on the beach. If the dog got to choose her next holiday, she would be rebooking Sandend Cottage!

The location of the cottage in Sandend is picturesque, wonderful views of the sea and beach from all the front windows and the elevated terrace garden. The cottage is really cosy and charming. I slept so well in the comfy bedroom with the sound of the sea making it very special. Very well equipped with lots of extras such as toys for children, both for in the cottage and lots of things to use down on the beach. A great beach for dog walking and watching the surfers. We had a wonderful week and will look forward to a longer holiday at the cottage in the future .

One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Well equipped, extremely clean with great attention to detail. The cottage sits next to a wonderful beach with stunning views. There are great walks right from the cottage and nearby villages. We had an amazing week and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone
"What a gem"

Had a wonderful week at this cottage. Everything you could possibly need is there in abundance, pots, equipment, dishes. Lovely to have extra towels/toilet rolls/tea towels/dishwasher tablets etc there if needed. There were also sundries in the store cupboard, sauces, flour etc. We did not use any of the extras but it was nice to know they were there. The heating and the lovely gas fire in the lounge keeps the whole house lovely warm and welcoming. The cottage is in a wonderful situation, the views are fantastic, you could stand at the window all day and just watch the ever changing sea. Congratulations to Wendy and Colin for all the thoughtful touches, the vase of flowers, the welcome pack and making their guests feel so much at home
"Perfect cottage in an amazing situation!"

We stayed in this lovely cottage 7th-14th June. It was perfect for our two dogs and us as the garden was fenced in, the beach was a stone's throw away and there were lots of good walks in the area. We have never stayed in a cottage with such an amazing view - the waves rolling in and a beautiful sandy beach - just brilliant! We felt very welcome and Wendy had thought of everything holidaymakers might need. The cottage is very clean and attractive and we had a very enjoyable week!

We had a family holiday in the Easter hols and as frequent holiday cottage users I can happily say it was the best! We had friends over who live nearby in Whitehills who were also super impressed and going to recommend to their own friends. The beach was amazing and the welcome pack of food and drink was lovely plus a beautiful, clean warm home. The owners seem just lovely and so helpful, it felt like we were staying at a friends place. We would love to go back!
