Find My Favourite Holiday Cottages in Lee

In the county of Buckinghamshire lies Lee, nestled cosily in the Chiltern Hills. The area is surrounded by forestry, making it an excellent place for any nature lovers to rent a holiday cottage. The Chilterns themselves are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it perfect for both summer or winter walks, enjoyed with a bottle of wine on a picnic or a warm flask of tea. Travel a little further out of Lee, and you will find Wendover Woods, Coombe Hill and the gorgeous Ivinghoe Beacon, ideal for a day out wandering with friends, the whole family or for a romantic afternoon with your loved one. In The Lee village, you will find all you need at the charmingly titled shop, ‘The Shop’, located in the beautiful Lee Parish Church and lovingly run by the community. Try out the local produce and cook something delicious in your cottage kitchen.

‘Lee’ in Anglo-Saxon means ‘Woodland Clearing’, and the inspiration for the name is evident as you look around this town. Interestingly, the first person to own Lee fought alongside William the Conqueror, and equally interestingly is the fact that Lee is home to the oldest building – the Old Church – in the whole district. Visit the Chilterns, and you will find the Norman Berkhamsted Castle with a fascinating background story. Return to The Lee after a day out exploring, and stop by one of two beloved village pubs to try the local tipple or for a hearty dinner (or both!). Both pubs offer something unique, the Old Swan being a 16th-century building with a cosy bar and restaurant, with a beautiful beer garden to boot. The Cock and Rabbit, on the other hand, has a wonderful sun terrace and also has the Graziemille Restaurant attached for all who love exquisite Italian dining. A beautiful place to visit at any time of the year,  Lee is an ideal holiday destination, sure to bring many heart-warming memories to yourself and those you love.
