'Excellent cottage, excellent setting, excellent location, excellent holiday. We all need to relax and this was perfect'. This is just one of the plaudits heaped on Beech Cottage. Another, 'would like to take the bed, the duvet. the pillows, the pheasants, the goats and chickens with us, but mostly we would love to take the morning birdsong. Will spend our year looking forward to coming back'.
Beech is one of five secluded holiday cottages standing in three acres of gardens surrounded by open countryside, offering distant views of Dartmoor to the south. The cottage has a small private seating area and garden to the front, leading out to two bbq areas, playing field, pets corner and a small copse. Children love the morning ritual of helping to feed the goats and chickens, all of whom are very friendly. Finding a warm fresh egg and stroking the chickens is a highlight for many of the younger children.
The cottage is 4* graded by Quality in Tourism and will forever be known by our children as 'the upside down house'. The first floor of the cottage is home to the living/dining room, kitchen and a twin bedroom. The French doors in the living room let the morning sun fill the room, just sit in the armchair and enjoy the peace and views. For those colder nights a log burning stove helps to keep the cottage cosy and warm. The ground floor has a single/twin bedroom, double bedroom and a shower room. Be warned beamed ceilings on the ground floor are a potential hazard to those over 6'. On large or two small well behaved dogs are allowed to stay. For those guests who have difficulty with stairs our Roundhouse, Pond Meadow or Little Leighs cottages would be more suitable.
Beech is perfect for couples of families of up to five. It is a great touring base, with the 'Atlantic Highway' being a few minutes drive from the cottage, giving you access to the North Cornish coast and especially Crackington Haven, Bude, Boscatle and Tintagel, all within a 15-20 minute drive. Crackington Haven is 5 miles away and is excellent for body boarding, rock pooling, walking or just sun bathing and has a very welcoming pub just off of the beach.
We, Lorraine and Geoff, live near the cottage in the old farmhouse and we are always here to welcome you in and help with anything during your holiday.
Happy Trainee Farmers by Matt, Sarah and Harry on May 20th 2016
We have all had a wonderful break at Beech Cottage in Cornwall, it is in the most beautiful of settings, made all the more better by wonderful hosts. Thank you for looking after us and in particular letting Harry feed the chickens and goats each morning, it has really been a highlight of his holiday. We almost never return to the same place to holiday, however, Trenannick may have to be the exception to the rule.
New Year by Roz and Jonathan on January 3rd 2016
Lovely to be back at Beach Cottage. We just love the peace and tranquillity and being cosy by the fire. Can't think of a better way to see in the New Year. Thank you once again for your hospitality.
Everything we could have asked for. by Jon on December 24th 2015
Everything we could have asked for - thank you so much for a warm Cornish welcome; all the little touches show how much you care that your guests enjoy their stay and we really did.
First visit back. by Brogan and Danny on September 26th 2015
First visit back since coming here as a child for several years straight. Despite the five year absence from Beach Cottage, it is as beautiful and special as I remember. Lorraine and Geoff couldn't be any kinder, friendly and helpful if they tried and always make the stay here a very welcome one. The cottage settings and facilities are outstanding and we would not want to stay anywhere else. Places to visit around Bude are never ending!
Can't wait to visit again. by Alan and Julie on July 11th 2015
Our first visit to the cottages and it certainly won't be our last! We had a brilliant week visiting Tintagel, Boscastle, surfing in Bude and doing the zip wire at the Eden Project and we can't wait to visit Beach Cottage again in the future. Thank you for a fantastic week.
Visit number 4 by Naomi, Stu and Sam on May 30th 2015
Yet another wonderful stay here at Trenannick (4th time). We never tire of the place. Young Sam thoroughly enjoyed his daily 'job' of helping Lorraine to feed the animals each morning. The amazing North Cornwall countryside and beaches bring such a sense of tranquillity and real escape from the rush of modern life. Hoping to be back again next year for visit number 5.
