The Boathouse is a delightful, detached, very romantic, waterside holiday cottage on Cornwall stands on its own private quay, surrounded on all three sides by with the wide River Tamar on the last leg of its journey to the sea. Unsurprisingly, all rooms in The Boathouse enjoy wide-ranging riverside and rural views. This is indeed a heavenly spot for a peaceful holiday in idyllic surroundings on the Cornish side of the Tamar in the sleepy village of Cargreen with a restaurant and pub within walking distance.

Within a short drive lie sandy beaches, and famous Cornish attractions such as The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, several grand National Trust Estates and the St Mellion Golf & Country Club.

Rooms and facilities in The Boathouse comprise:

  • A living room with ample space for sofas (one a double sofa bed) and arm chairs for 8, flatcreeen TV, DVD/CD player and warmed on cooler days by a flame effect fire creating a cozy glow. The riverside patio can be accessed by French Windows from the lounge providing fine ‘wide-angle’ views of the Tamar and surrounding countryside.

  • On cooler days, you can still enjoy the views from the beautiful conservatory which leads off the lounge.

  • A Ddining room with large dining table seating eight guests.

  • A Kitchen, fully equipped with facilities including a ceramic electric hob, built-in eye level double oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.

  • Ground floor Cloakroom with basin and WC.

Stairs up to first floor where rooms comprise: * A double bedroom with 4ft 6in double bed and fitted wardrobe. * An adjacent bathroom with a corner bath having a shower over, bidet, basin and WC. * A bunk bedroom with lower 4ft 6in double bunk and upper 3ft bunk. * Family bedroom with 4ft 6in double bed, 3ft single bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC.

Outside is an enclosed walled garden with a patio having garden furniture affording outdoor dining opportunities on sunny days and warm evenings.

There is a private parking space for one car alongside The Boathouse with more unrestricted on-road parking available close by.

  • The price includes bed linen (no towels except for overseas visitors), electricity and heating (night storage).
  • A Security Deposit: £15 is payable direct to owner.
  • The House has a telephone which can be used for incoming calls only. Mobile reception is mixed depending on your provider.

The nearest small supermarket is just a 3-mile drive, while larger supermarkets are also within easy reach, such as Waitrose in Plymouth, just 5-mailes from The Boathouse.

The house is in a perfect location for those seeking a holiday messing about on the water. There is outdoor storage space in the garden for dinghy’s and canoes (with a 1-ton davit for lifting in and out of the water) and space for a small boat trailer in front of the house also being available. Alongside the house is a slipway, while steps from the garden lead directly down to The Tamar. If you are bringing or chartering a larger boat, the owner will supply details of a near buy mooring buoy in the river, available for hiring.

Please Note: Because of its location, this property is unsuitable for children under 5. Also, the estuary is not suitable for swimming.

We have just returned back from a wonderful week spent at the Boathouse in Cargreen and this is by far the best holiday cottage that we have ever stayed at. It is extremely difficult to decide what was the best feature of this particular accommodation, the cottage itself or the spectacular views of the river as both were just so perfect. Out of all of the cottages that we have stayed over the years in the UK this is the only one that we all looked forward to going back to at the end of the day as it felt so much like a home. Despite the fact that the nearest shop and pub were over 3 miles away this did not detract from the total enjoyment of staying in this tranquil location. What a gem!
