Property Details

Brookfield is a modern, detached house backing onto green meadows just a short walk from the village of Tregony in Cornwall. With six bedrooms (three doubles, two twins and a cot room) as well as two family bathrooms, this cottage can sleep ten people. The rest of the accommodation includes a fitted kitchen with a breakfast table, a dining room and a sitting room.

To the outside of this country cottage is off road parking for three cars and a lawned garden with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. The cottage also provides a range of beach items including folding chairs, wind breaks, surfboards, buckets and spades etc, and with the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the beaches of the north and south coast all within a short drive, Brookfield is a fabulous holiday cottage for all of the family.

The house was spacious and exceptionally well equipped for 8 adults. It was a well positioned property with attractions and beaches within easy reach. The owner was helpful but never intrusive.

A lovely house in an ideal location with very friendly host, will be back again.

AN ENJOYABLE STAY August 2014 by Stan W on September 13th 2014

we enjoyed our stay in this large cottage. It is furnished with comfortable lounge and dining room furniture and all of the beds and bedding were clean and comfortable Graham ,the owner, lives on site and is very helpful when needed. Previous reports do not reflect our experience and you do wonder why people make such comments.

by Mrs Taylor on September 4th 2014

Loved the seclusion of Brookfield, and even though the owner lives next door, he is not at all intrusive, but he is very helpful. The ponies at the bottom of the garden were a huge hit with all the family.

We all had a great time at Brookfield cottage. The house is really well set out, garden area really great for our two dogs- they had great fun together. Downstairs bedroom and shower, wc, great for our older friend, no stairs to climb. The owner was very pleasant and helpful, he didn't impose on us at all. Would certainly recommend to anyone. Lovely pub that does great food, village store nearby, within walking distance.

Good location uncared for accommodation. by David R on June 7th 2014

Whilst the house is of a good size it really needs a complete makeover in terms of decor and fixtures and fittings. You get the overwhelming impression that all of the furniture was purchased second hand many years ago. A good quality tv, with Sky HD sits on a wonky stand with a jumble of wiring exposed to all - beware if you have inquisitive children. The quality of the beds and bed linen is a real disappointment. The garden is small and unkempt and the garden furniture is cheap with a broken chair & umbrella being kept company by two traffic road cones - bizarre. If Brookfield was a car it would be mid 70's Austin Maxi - spacious but clapped out and unlikely to pass an MOT.

It was great to take all the family on holiday together. Brookfield was the perfect place for us as there was plenty of room for us all, and we were not under each others feet. The cottage was a real home from home, and everything was there that we needed. The owner lives in the annex next to the house, he was very friendly and informative about the best places to visit. He did not intrude on our privacy, but was there if we needed anything. A lovely holiday, and one I will remember for a long time.

We had a wonderful stay at Brookfield, the house was in a great location to explore Cornwall. The owner was very helpful and although they live next door to the property, they were not at all intrusive. The garden was a great size for the children and we had everything we needed, Graham also very kindly supplied an extra high chair as we had two babies in our party. As a family we would all happily stay at Brookfield again and would highly recommend it.

Beautiful Cottage can`t fault it in any way. The owner helps make your stay, he does not bother you at all but he is always there if you need a chat. We are definitely going back again.

Great family break by A FlipKey verified reviewer on April 6th 2013

After reading the previous review after we had already booked, we were somewhat worried about what to expect. However, we needn't have worried. On arrival we were greeted by the owner and he had generously supplied us with fresh flowers, scones, jam, cream and milk. After that he respectfully kept away unless he was needed. We didn't ever hear him in his 'annex' next door. The house is vey spacious and ample room for 7 adults and 3 children. Although the decor is pretty outdated the house itself was comfortable, very warm through a very cold spell and well equipt for our needs. Yes it might have benefited from a more thorough cleaner, and there were a couple of spiders in the bathroom, but we had a wonderful stay and enjoyed it as a great base for a terrific family holiday.

Disappointing !!! by NickiSolihull on October 15th 2012

We stayed at this property for a week to celebrate my father's 70th birthday. There were 6 Adults, 3 teenage boys and 2 dogs. Firstly, the property is in a beautiful location and the size of the property and room layouts were perfect. There is a tiny garden, but there is a hole in the fence, which we had to block up. The owners' ponies do come to the garden fence every day, but they ar quite a poor sight and we did feel terribly sorry to see them left outside in the field all night in all weathers! There is also a rather strange arrangement, whereby the owner lives in the attachment to the house (which appears to be the former garage) so he can hear you at all times and vice versa. Our main gripe was the cleanliness of the property - it was absolutely filthy, with huge spiders and cobwebs in every room. The dust on the windowledges was inches thick. We had to clean everywhere before we used it. We even washed all the bath mats in the bathrooms and they lookjed beautiful. We were also dubious whether or not the bedding on the beds was actually clean or had been used by previous visitors.

Lovely place, good base. by Rachael H on August 18th 2012

We came as a group in June, we were three couples, a baby and a dog. The property has a large kitchen, with everything you could need, dining room, large sitting room, one double bed (quite compact) downstairs next to a small shower room/toilet. Upstairs was a large bathroom, two nice sized double rooms overlooking the fields/paddock at the back of the house and two twin rooms. You can push the beds together to make doubles. The garden at the back is spacious and if you are lucky you will see the pheasants that visit and the ponies which are friendly. It is enclosed, however a small dog/inquisitive child can get out as there were holes in the fence. We blocked these up after our dog found them and went to visit the ponies. There is not much to do in the village but it is close enough to all the great places Cornwall has to offer that it makes a great base but you need a car. We went to Newquay, Eden project and St Ives nothing was more than an hour or so away. The owner lives next door and is really friendly. He helps to make your stay. There is a wonderful pub in the village which is friendly and does great food.only a five minute walk. My only complaint as such was the spiders. I expected some of course but there were five or six in every room and cobwebs all over the window sills in the kitchen. Other than that it was amazing.

by Mr Wilkinson on August 10th 2012

The owner was most friendly and helpful. The location was excellent being fairly local to the main towns of Truro and St Austell. There were 7 adults and 3 children, all very well and comfortably accommodated in the house. The children loved the enclosed garden and the owners two ponies in the adjoining field.

Spacious, family-friendly house in pleasant village by A Holiday Lettings verified reviewer on January 27th 2012

Excellent place for families. Enough space to be together and to have time apart. And the house is well located to visit the many attractions in that area. We managed without a car but as it was Christmas this wasn't a real problem. Otherwise, although there is a hourly bus service, a car is pretty essential. It's about 6 miles to the beach.

by Mr Wiltshire on January 12th 2012

The house was comfortable and warm and large enough to accommodate our party with room to spare. The owner, who lives in a property adjacent to the site but is not at all intrusive, was very helpful and gave members of our party lifts from and to the station so that we were able to get our trains. The house was well stocked, and even included washing powder, dishwasher tablets, black bags and enough toilet rolls. In many other places we have stayed, the place is completely devoid of these things so that was a real bonus. Small touches like this leave you with a positive feeling about the house.

by Mrs Gray on September 20th 2011

It was a good location for seeing many parts of Cornwall. The house was ideal for our family and for our two dogs.

by Mrs Wood on August 14th 2011

Lovely quiet location, yet central for many interesting places to visit. Very, very helpful owner of cottage. I would definitely recommend this place to stay.

by Mrs Wood on August 3rd 2011

The owner was very welcoming and eager for us to enjoy our time at Brookfield, without being intrusive. The provision of beach equipment from buckets and spades to windbreaks was appreciated. Overall the standard of equipment and helpful information was very good.

by Hopper on January 11th 2011

The location was ideal for trips out, hopping here and there. The garden overlooked lovely fields with friendly ponies and lots of wildlife visited the gardens which excited my small daughter. The owner was brilliant - he lived adjacent but was unobtrusive, helpful and friendly. House was well equipped, deceptively large with fantastically sized rooms. Very comfy beds. Hot water and heating abundant. All in all a highly enjoyable trip and very reasonably priced.

by Mrs Maxwell on August 3rd 2010

The house was very comfortable and well equipped and large enough to accommodate 5 adults and 5 children.
