Enjoyable stay amongst beautiful scenery. by Gaynor N on May 15th 2017
We returned to Henberry in May after visiting in September 2016. The cottage has everything you need and is very reasonably priced. When we visit we enjoy the lovely walks which are all quite local. You can also catch a bus to Barnard Castle. The stop is only about 50 yards up the road. There are a number of pubs in nearby villages which all serve meals or snacks at various prices. Henberry cottage has a lovely large garden with patio furniture for relaxation. Bird boxes and tables are everywhere around the property. All varieties of birds can be spotted. We have had a really enjoyable stay at Henberry each time we have visited and have been made very welcome on both occasions. We will be going again.

A lovely cottage in a very quiet and peaceful location close to neighbouring towns and villages. We would highly recommend staying in this delightful cottage.
by Ms Kiersey on June 29th 2015
Perfect little cottage in idyllic surroundings. Clean, comfortable and very well furnished and equipped. It was cosy but with oodles of character and I very much regretted having to leave the delightful cottage and the village after a perfect week.
by Mr Williams on January 1st 2015
Everything was to a high standard, particularly the views.
by Mr Penny on November 9th 2014
One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in, we will certainly return.
by Mr Challis on October 12th 2014
Delightful village in beautiful rugged countryside with weather to match - fabulous! The property is a lovely, intimate, stone built apartment perfect for couples who are o.k. with steps, which we are. We shall, given the opportunity, go there again, and recommend it highly, particularly given the fine couple who own it and live next door.
A great little place by A FlipKey verified reviewer on August 8th 2014

Bijou retreat in lovely village by A FlipKey verified reviewer on April 29th 2014
Henberry is the upstairs level of a small barn conversion. It is an ideal retreat for two and is priced correctly for this size of accommodation. If you want more room, be prepared to pay accordingly. Access is up an old stone staircase with entry directly into the living room/kitchen area. The bedroom is compact with a normal sized en-suite beyond.I found the bed to be particularly comfortable. Every room is tastefully decorated and fitted out. The owners are very friendly and helpful - they live in the main house next door and were there if we needed them but left us happily to ourselves most of the time. The village has a popular, though quite expensive, pub / restaurant. There are other places within easy reach up and down the valley. Romaldkirk itself is delightful - pretty village greens and church. The location is great for walking - the Tees Valley Way passes right by the cottage. We hardly used the car all week, preferring to walk straight out of the door into the lovely surrounding countryside.
by Mr Norton on April 6th 2014
The barn conversion is located in very quiet village with a choice of two pubs. The owners very helpful advising where to eat and shop in nearby villages. Excellent location for walking and cycling. Visited Beamish Museum, Barnard Castle, Appleby and High Force during our weeks stay. Pet friendly accommodation and doggy treats. The majority of pubs in the area welcome dogs.

by Mrs Stables on December 30th 2013
The cottage was in a beautiful location, within easy reach of walks and areas of outstanding beauty. Our hosts were very welcoming, gave us lots of information on the area. Will be going back again next year.
by Mrs Gale on October 28th 2013
We loved the aspect of the cottage being in a village, but with walks from the door and two pubs/hotel which were a minute away. The owners were unobtrusive. We have already recommended it to my sister who is keen to visit the area.
Very peaceful in lovely surroundings. by A FlipKey verified reviewer on October 28th 2013

A quiet and comfortable cottage in a beautiful location.
by Dr Miller on August 13th 2013
The cottage was very well appointed, and nicely furnished. A great deal of thought had obviously gone into kitting it out, and ensuring that all likely requirements were accommodated. Romaldkirk is extremely pretty and has a great village pub which does delicious food! There were walks straight from the doorstep of the cottage.

by Ms Lloyd on September 24th 2012
The view from the kitchen window was beautiful. The cottage was like a cosy nest, up high. The kitchen was stocked with everything necessary, plus lots of extra useful things. I could tell that a lot of thought had gone into providing everything to make us comfortable. I liked the village, very peaceful and the stars were wonderful on the clear nights.
Amazing by Luckynotts on August 14th 2012
Stayed here for a midweek break mid July. A very well equipped cottage, nice quiet surroundings in a lovely village. Owner lives next door although was away when we stayed so had some friends looking after guests, the hosts were lovely! The owner has an amazing garden with a gorgeous dog and a few cats scattered around! Cottage has all you could need and added extra's too. Lots of lovely walks to do nearby along the tessdale way, an old railway line now converted for walkers, very safe for dogs too. The owner supplies an excellent guide on things to do and places to stay. We look forward to visiting again

A comfortable unwind by A FlipKey verified reviewer on December 2nd 2009
The upstairs flat was well fitted and the decor was cosy and "country comfortable". The views were lovely and peaceful. We brought our 1 year old son with us, and it was perhaps a bit too cramped with the required cot and high chair... but the weather was nice, so we indulged in the bbq as much as possible. Nice walks in the area, and the quality of the food in the local pub was second to none.
by Mrs Proud on September 29th 2009
Lovely views and very peaceful surroundings. Well equipped and spotlessly clean. The proprietors are very friendly but unobtrusive. We will certainly book this property again.
