About Esk View

  • Sleeps: 16
  • Bedrooms: 8
  • Bathrooms: 5

Sleeping groups of up to 16 people, plus three dogs, Esk View is an ideal Lake District self-catering holiday home for extended family or groups of friends. Standing in an imposing position in the heart of one of the Lake District's most beautiful areas, it offers breathtaking views and plenty of space for the whole group to spread out.

Built in 1898, Esk View retains its Victorian features such as original fireplaces, kitchen flagstones and exposed beams. As well as that, it has all the modern comforts you would wish for from your perfect self-catering holiday.

Eskdale offers hundreds of walks for all ages and abilities. If you're looking for a challenging hike, you can take on the mighty Scafells at the top of the valley whilst those looking for a gentler time can enjoy gentle strolls along the River Esk - perfect for little legs! The river also has natural pools that make wonderful swimming holes, or why not take a canoe down the river or dig out the fishing rod and nets?

A good walk over the fells will take you to the fishing village of Ravenglass, the only seaside village in the Lake District, which displays evidence of its Roman history in the shape of an interesting bath house. If you don't fancy walking, the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway has miniature, single gauge steam engines that run to the coast from Boot station, just a short walk from Esk View. This popular attraction is well-worth a visit as the little trains leisurely toot through some wonderful scenery and provide a truly unique way of seeing this area of the Lake District.

There are five pubs in the valley with The Brook House Inn and The Boot Inn being the closes at just a 5-10 minute walk away. All the pubs are child- and dog-friendly and serve real ales and a wide choice of good food.
