The Place offers stunning lake and mountain views and sleeps up to 8 people in a wonderful setting. It is the perfect blend of Lake District character and modern luxury, just a short stroll from the lake of Loweswater and within easy reach of the peaceful delights of the Western Lake District.
With lake views, mountain scenery, exposed wooden beams, wood burners, and luxurious touches throughout, The Place at Loweswater really has it all.
This wonderful, 17th century Lake District farmhouse is jam-packed with character and beautiful furnishings and has an enviable location at the head of one of the quietest lakes in the Lake District. It is the perfect retreat for large families or groups of friends with four bedrooms sleeping up to eight people, plus one well-behaved dog.
Downstairs is a sitting room with a wealth of features dating as far back as 1664, including an original fireplace, bread oven, and salt cellar! There are mod cons, too, with a widescreen LED Smart TV and Blu Ray player, a selection of movies, efficient broadband, a Bluetooth DAB radio, and a record player and records - perfect for evenings in or on those wet days! The dining room has a wood burner to keep you toasty as well as a writing desk and window seat that look out across the stunning scenery - ideal for a bit of inspiration! The ground floor also has a farmhouse kitchen with handmade units, a shower room, bedroom and utility room with boot storage and space to hang wet clothes.
Upstairs you will find the remaining three bedrooms, a family bathroom, and an additional WC, so there's plenty of space for all in your party. Outside is a large, enclosed lawned garden with dining terrace, orchard, 'secret' garden, summer house, and breathtaking lake views. As if all that isn't enough, The Place also benefits from a games barn with table tennis, table football and pool table; badminton, quoits and other outdoor games; bike storage for up to eight bikes; and plentiful private parking.
Loweswater is in the unspoiled Western Lake District and is cloaked by ancient woodland (hiding a pretty waterfall and wildlife including deer and red squirrels). From just a short walk from The Place, you will be treated to 360 degree views that take in Loweswater, Crummock Water, the lakeland fells, and even the sea to the west! There is plenty of walking from the front door - you can choose to take a gentle stroll around the whole of the lakeshore, or head up onto the low fells nearby. Alternatively, why not hire a rowing boat from the National Trust and head onto the water?
A short drive - or a walk if you're feeling more active - will take you to the neighbouring twin lakes of Crummock Water and Buttermere. Your nearest town is the pretty market town of Cockermouth with its shops, cinema, eateries, the Jennings Brewery (offering tours and tastings) and William Wordsworth's childhood home (now a museum). An excellent pub - the Kirkstile Inn - is just over two miles away.
