Excellent by A Holiday Lettings verified reviewer on January 5th 2018

Couldn't have asked for better. Excellent. 7 of us stayed here in December 2017. Plenty of room and very well equipped. Close to town only a few mins walk. Beds comfy and house lovely and warm. Plenty of games for those rainy days. Would recommend staying here and Sue the owner very helpful when we left some luggage behind. Plus was a lovely gesture leaving us 3 bottles of wine, large box of chocolate biscuits, large tub of chocolates and milk. Thank you. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely early summer stay at Westies by Bruce M on June 16th 2017

Had a wonderful stay at Westies with our family of five. Home was very clean and kitchen was well stocked for all cooking and washing requirements. We found the nice supply of tourist information and especially the catalog of nearby walks, quite useful. The abundance of rainy day games, puzzles, and DVD's also provided a distraction for our youngest. Beds were comfortable and the WIFI was flawless (as per the teenagers). Touch lights in the master was a great idea and saved me from the normal post reading grappling for the elusive off switch. Street parking appeared daunting upon arrival, but after that Saturday, plenty of close spaces were available. Overall, very happy with the accommodation, location, and value.

by Mr Kowal on June 12th 2016

The property was perfect for our needs. It is in easy walking distance of Keswick centre with its masses of eating outlets and outdoor shops. The facilities at the house were excellent and the presentation is very high, the owners clearly take pride in the standards that they maintain.

by Robinson on March 9th 2016

The accommodation was excellent, location to the lake and town centre and lots of walks on the doorstep. The house was clean, warm and well equipped for the kitchen. We would like to stay at the house again in the future.

by Ms Guthrie on December 23rd 2015

Westies is a good, clean house in an excellent location. Great for dogs. Loads of cutlery and crockery - didn't have to keep washing up to have enough cutlery.

by Mr Dalby on November 25th 2015

It was superb, in a great location and parking was not a problem. Cannot fault it, it was probably one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

by Mrs Heathershaw on August 24th 2015

The house was spotless and all our needs were catered for. The telephone advisor from Sykes cottages was amazing in helping me find a suitable property.

by Mrs Fox on June 22nd 2015

The location was fantastic, just 5 minutes into Keswick and 10 minutes down to the lake. The house had everything we needed with plenty of space and amenities.

by Mrs Cowling on June 7th 2015

We enjoyed the welcome from the owners, the cleanliness and cosiness of the property. We appreciated that there was enough room for all of us to spend time together eating and relaxing and liked the easy walking distance into Keswick.

Just great! by SusieC63 on June 4th 2015

The house is brilliant, very clean and well equipped, everything, including the bedding and towels, was spotless. It's in a great location, with an easy walk into Keswick, but plenty of parking in town and by the lake at this time of year. We had a great holiday, can't fault anything, including the customer service and welcome, thanks.

by Ms Woodcock on May 17th 2015

Westies is a lovely house, clean warm and comfortable and well located.

by Mr Gavagan on February 17th 2015

The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. It was nice to come back to a warm home at the end of the day. There was plenty of space in the property, and everything was easily accessible. The owners were keen to cater for our particular needs and their kind gifts to welcome us on the first day were most appreciated.

Best. House. Ever. by Vaniadolls on January 12th 2015

Joined a group of friends at the house for a long weekend trip, the house is so warm and homely, everything is very high quality almost as if it has never been used before. Everything you'd expect to find at a holiday rental and more so it really feels like your own home. We could cook proper meals each night, the oven/hob/dishwasher are very easy to use, there's an abundance of every utensil/dish/cup/glass you could need and loads of food storage. The bathroom and shower room are hotel standard - the pressure on the shower is amazingly refreshing. Bedding is very important to me, the thickness of the duvets were perfect thickness and again very homely but with that hotel standard. Loads of storage in the rooms and still spacious and warm. I definitely want to stay here again, it's close to the shops, in a quiet area and close to the lake - perfect.

by Miss Carolan on January 5th 2015

The accommodation was fantastic, very clean with everything you need. A perfect, clean and homely house - just like being at home.

by Mrs Perkins on April 28th 2014

Really great lovely family place to stay, great area to stay in. Lovely, warm and well kept property.

by Mr Johnson on February 23rd 2014

I felt that this cottage was very good, perfect for all of our needs however I don't feel that the pictures did the house justice. I especially appreciated the little things from the owner. Thank you.

by Mrs Richings on November 23rd 2013

This is the third time I have used the Westies, and cannot find any faults whatsoever. The house is very clean and taken care of. The kitchen is fully equipped. I would recommend this house every time if visiting Keswick and the area.

spacious and well equipped for everything from cooking to entert by sjorskayla on October 13th 2013

We stayed here with our young adult children there partners and grand kids, we love it and had a brilliant time, we have stayed several times we only decided to try somewhere else this year as there was a couple of things that put us off last year for re-booking and that was the strong smell of dogs and the bed in the main bedroom felt like it was on a slope. We have our own small dog and aware some dogs smell stronger than others, so we would definitely re-book if we were re-assured the smell was unfortunate for the time we visited and had now been dealt with .

The cottage was beautifully located and presented. The kitchen is excellent, and the cottage as a whole is one of the best we have ever been to, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The owner has given every consideration to the guests with little extras. best cottage I've stayed in. Thank you.

by Mrs Crowle on February 12th 2013

Westies was a very clean, well looked after and well equipped property. Both the welcome packs for ourselves and the dog was a lovely gesture. Would recommend this property and would stay here again.

Great location and a welcoming house with lots of added touches by rufusdd on January 2nd 2013

Our group of 6 adults and 2 children (plus 2 hounds) have just stayed in Westies for 5 nights over New Year. The house is spacious and comfortable with a large ensuite bedroom plus 3 good sized rooms. Downstairs is a large, well equipped, kitchen, dining room with enough room for 8 to eat and a comfortable living room. The interior is a little dated but very well presented and the house a very welcoming feel. The biggest impression of our stay was made by the small touches from the owners. For example, we arrived to find 2 bottles of champagne and a box of chocolates laid out for our new year celebration. Also tea, coffee, washing up equipment and a dog welcome pack (containing treats, waste bags and a large towel) were ready for us upon arrival. If you are in Keswick for climbing, walking or mountain biking then the lockable out-building will be ideal for storing kit. The out-building was part of the extension and contained the boiler so it was easy to dry stuff overnight. We stored 3 mountain bikes in there with no problems. The house is located about 5 min walk from town. It's probably less than 5min to cycle to the start of the Latrigg trail and about a 15 min drive from the Trail Centre at Whinlatter.

A comfortable well equipped house, convenient for the town. Plenty of room for eight people, a very enjoyable weekend break.

by Mr Boucher on October 14th 2012

Excellent location, short walk to the town centre. Excellently equipped cottage. Nice welcome package was an added bonus and very thoughtful. Very spacious with plenty of communal space and seating. Dog was allowed. Fantastic weather.

by Mr Maas on October 8th 2012

It was near to the town centre, everything about Keswick was out of this world, everything was just right.

by Mrs Brown on September 17th 2012

The experience with Sykes was second to none. The owner of the house was very helpful and the property was great. A totally excellent experience all round, thank you all!

by Mrs Page on September 10th 2012

Fantastically well equipped cottage. Parking space in Keswick was a real bonus. Would be happy to recommend to others.

Nice stay nice house by A FlipKey verified reviewer on September 6th 2012

A well equipped comfortable property in a good location in Keswick - especially for the convention. The welcome pack was excellent - really kind and useful after the journey up. Some of the decor wasn't to our taste and one of the kitchen cupboards smelled a little damp, but these were minor things.

Wonderful home from home by A FlipKey verified reviewer on September 6th 2012

Super cottage - warm weloming home - welcoming gift on arrival! Excellent kitchen equipment and cleanliness through out. Close enough to town & lake to walk. Good restaurants and take aways close by. Central to visitor attractions - Osprey viewing and Red Squirrel viewing points. Our dog loved it too! 3 flights of stairs so not for anyone with problems walking or climbing stairs.

by Priorjones on August 11th 2012

Loved the thoughtfulness of the owners in providing everything we could possibly need and superb welcome pack. Loved the space and retro feel of the property, but modern facilities

by Mr Collinson on July 26th 2012

It was a pleasure to stay in such a clean and pleasant property. The little gifts and supplies left by the owner were a really nice thing. Well done.

by Mrs Howells on July 24th 2012

Westies is a cottage/house with a lovely welcoming atmosphere - a real 'home'! It is close to town so within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. Good access to all the lakes.

by Mr Hole on July 24th 2012

The cottage was very well stocked with useful items especially the kitchen.

by Mrs Fretwell on July 23rd 2012

We all had a wonderful holiday and found that Westies exceeded all our expectations! So handy for the Convention Centre. Hope to return next year.

Fabulous by missiedea on January 4th 2012

Just stayed here to celebrate our 2nd Wedding anniversary, and family came for New Year also, we came to Keswick for our Honeymoon, and often come camping during the summer months staying in Ullswater or Windermere. Six adults and two children, not forgetting our Springer Spaniel who loved it... she hasn't stopped sleeping since getting back, the only thing that was disappointig was the weather with rain, rain rain, alot different to our honeymoon in 2009 when it was thick with Snow. Westies has everything to offer, digital TV, although my brother is a keen downloader, and had a memory stick with numerous films on for our evening entertainment, he even brought a smaller lcd tv for the kids to play the Wii on {which he brought with him also}. There are loads of books, dvds, games and reading materials to keep everyone entertained. The kitchen is fabulous, with dishwasher, washer and dryer and as many kitchen appliances as you can fathem its like your own kitchen at home, we only ate out twice once at "17 again" just two of us for our anniversary, if its a special occasion then this is lovely and "The Dog & Gun" and tried the Hungarian Goulash again from previous visits", this is a must, we cooked everything in the house from fry ups, to christmas dinner and new years day dinner, not forgetting a hot pot, using the slow cooker after the celebrations in the square on new years eve, we even used a rolling pin, which was provided! My only negative point would be if they could have another double bedroom as we drew the short straw with having the twin room, and the way the room is set up, we couldn't put the beds together {door in the middle} and no matter how long the heating is on this room remains cold. The bathrooms are fab in the en-suite and the main bathroom, the house is immaculate in every room the dining room is excellent with a georgous table, ideal for entertaining! We all would consider staying here again, if we did I am opting for the double room! We received a fabulous welcome pack and the wine was drank more or less on the first night, the kids loved their special wine too! We even got a towel and treats for the dog too! We regretfully forgot our baby gate, so our dog slept outside in the outhouse, otherwise known as the drying room, otherwise she would have been on each chair or sofa in the house if we let her stay inside at night.. 100% fab, so if you are considering booking then definately do so, it is at most 10 mins walk to the centre, with a spar right by the house which is reasonable. A suggestion to the owner, would be a light in the back and a hose to hose pets down outside, and apologies for all the empty bottles, cans etc... we didnt know were the recycling bin was otherwise we would have taken them...

The cottage was warm and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we will book this cottage again!

Westies is very well positioned just ten minutes walk from an excellent supermarket yet quietly tucked away from the pubs and restaurants. Useful drying room! The Alhambra cinema was a good find just 5 minutes up the road.

by Mr Stratton on November 7th 2011

Property was very comfortable, spacious and well situated for access to the town centre. Our welcome, in the shape of a bottle of wine and chocolates was a very nice touch.

wonderful holiday in the lake district by A FlipKey verified reviewer on September 17th 2011

good central location, walking distance to the town. Clean and comfortable but could do with some updating

by Mrs McDonald on July 31st 2011

We loved the house and found it suited our needs very well. Probably the best equipped kitchen we've ever stayed in! It was a very lovely touch giving us gifts on arrival. Over and above expectations. Thank you very much. We would have booked again for next year but our required week was already taken!

by Mrs Goodwin on July 5th 2011

The cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped. Had the weather been poor we would have been very cosy and had the facilities to entertain ourselves. The welcome pack was a nice surprise. We absolutely love the Lake District.

by Mr Bonnett on April 5th 2011

Westies is well positioned in a quiet road yet within easy walk of the shops. The drying room is very useful for walkers. Warm and well equipped house and thoughtful "welcome" pack on arrival.

Home from Home and dog friendly by nosbod on February 8th 2011

The house was very comfortable, very clean and had excellent utilities in terms of cooking utensils, pots, pans etc - the best we have ever experienced and we've stayed in over a dozen rental properties. It was very dog friendly in that the back yard is secure, so no worries of the dogs escaping! Excellent location for the town centre and nearby park. The only downside was that there was. only room for one car on the on street parking and if you went out for the day, it was a gamble as to whether you could park in front of the house on your return.

by Mrs Smethurst on January 10th 2011

This was the best equipped holiday letting that we have ever been to. We wanted for nothing. The house was immaculately clean and very homely. The location was fantastic, only a five minute walk into town meant we hardly moved the cars all week. The surrounding area is, of course, beautiful and the amenities in Keswick were all we needed. A fantastic time was had by all including the dogs! Thank you so much!

by Mrs Dobson on December 6th 2010

The location of the property in relation to the town centre. As it had snowed quite heavily, we were still able to walk into the town. Also, the house was very warm and comfortable and the beds were extremely comfortable. We loved it all.
