Ash Pot Barn
If you want real peace.........this is the place to be - spacious.........and in the heart of walking areas! There is no or little mobile phone reception which makes it an ideal place to escape to!All in all a wonderful experience - one to be repeated!
We enjoyed our stay. The cottage was comfortable and
well laid out. Very clean and newly decorated.
Bedrooms would benefit from a little more furniture.
The drive was quite steep but fine once we got used
Liked the open plan living area and the modern
Liked Spartan bedrooms least but they were clean.
Scenery beautiful. Good walking straight from the
door. The owners were very helpful.
Great stay at ash Pot Barn
I stayed at ash Pot Barn with 6 other ladies. We had a great time. We couldnt fault our stay in anyway. We would definatley return, especially in Summer as it has a great BBQ area overlooking the Fells, But was cosy in the winter when we went. We walked to the Fat Lamb pub which took about 1 hour 10 mins. Secluded location but perfect for relaxing and staying in, great kitchen/living area. Bedrooms spacious and everywhere very clean.
In the middle of nowhere..
This was exactly what we wanted, plenty of room, warm, isolated in this wonderful part of Cumbria!
Owners live next door but were very discreet, much appreciated.
Lacked coat pegs for anoraks etc and perhaps a DVD player when weather bad as it was for us for a week!
Shame - great potential
Fabulous location and very clean cottage with nice views and plenty of character. The boys enjoyed the woodburning stove. The plumbing in the cottage was second to none with plenty of hot water and good water pressure.
However, the Dishwasher and Microwave did not work, part of the fridge door was missing and the oven dial settings had been cleaned off so it was difficult to set temperatures. Generally the property needed some maintenance with patches of damp on the walls and draughty windows. The property had a number of Woodlice and other insects both downstairs and upstairs.
Downstairs the bedrooms were sparsely furnished so there were no surfaces to put clothes and things. There were no bed-side tables so everything (glasses, books, mobile phones) had to go on the stone floors that were bare throughout with the exception of a couple of rugs.
Outside the hardcore track leading down was potholed and care needed to be taken when driving up to avoid bottoming the car on the stones.
Also note that there is a charge to use the towels.
It's a shame because the property has such potential!
Good potential but let down by avoidable faults
Great setting, House was warm and plenty of hot water but owners went for maximising the number of beds and didn't equip the property for a potential nine residents. for example the sitting room only had two settee's. Two of the four bedrooms lacked bedside tables and bedside lights. The dishwasher was poor and we had to frequently rinse plates. Dishwasher safe cutlery was not provided so had to be washed seperately. . There were only three items of 'oven to table' ware. We were a party of 4 so just about managed with this but it would be problematic with a larger group. We normally find stock food items [ sauces, oil, etc] left by previous visitors but not here. No tumble dryer, no airer, no clothes line. Fortunately we had good weather. We knew there was no DVD player so brought our own but we normally expect that as standard. We knew there would be no WiFi but strongly suspect that this could be wired from the owners property next door.
All in all a disappointing rental from a party with a significant amount of experience of renting houses in the UK.
Overall, probably one of best holiday properties that we have rented.
The property is beautifully furnished and loccated in a lovely rural setting.
Accommodation very comfortable with all modern ammenities. Setting perfect. The log burner well used ideal in the large living space for those cosy nights indoors. Overall very pleased with property.
The position of the property is good for access to both the Dales and Lake District. There were lovely views which suited us perfectly.
The barn was an excellent base - very comfortable and spacious, yet cosy on miserable evenings, with lovely views.
Wonderful location with easy access to all areas of the Lake District. Very peaceful. Stunning scenery, sorry to leave!
Absolutley superb location and property, it exceeded our expectations. The owners were very friendly and helpful, I cannot stress how good this property is.
Absolutely beautiful barn. The location was so peaceful and ideal for Yorkshire Dales and Lakes. Great walking on the doorstep.
The location of the property was ideal for our needs. I'm a strong believer in never going to the same place twice as it's a big world and having stayed in various cottages throughout Cumbria I have never returned to the same cottage. Ash Pot Barn may be the exception to the rule.
I can honestly say it was the best holiday house we have ever stayed in in Britain - it was fantastic!
Fantastic place, highly recommended.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. Is a beautiful area.
Enjoyed the views and setting. The barn is beautifully renovated - loved the use of natural materials and good quality bathrooms.
Also liked the woodburner and comfy sofas.
Great location, lovely accommodation.
The location was brilliant and Ash Pot was ideal for a group of people. Access to the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales was easy and convenient.
The setting was wonderful; open views across the valley. A lovely peaceful area, considering it was a school holiday it was a breath of fresh air compared to the Lake District. The cottage was very well appointed, everything was there that we needed, with the exception of a washing machine. Overall a lovely cottage, in a great location!
Overall it was an excellent property perfect for people wanting a remote location with fantastic views. We plan to return
Property overall and location was excellent.
The cottage was in the most beautiful setting. The surrounding area was unspoilt with sheep, horses and other animals roaming free. The peace was amazing. The accommodation was spacious and well thought out. We have never had a cottage holiday before and had never been to Cumbria but we would recommend it in a heartbeat.
A beautiful place to stay, perfect surroundings - we were looking for a property right out in the middle of nowhere... which was what we got.
The view of all the hills was much better than hoped, and the icing on the cake was the small waterfall at the end of the road.
It's within reasonable distance to most "must see" attractions etc in the Lake District.
The accommodation was stunning, liked the amazing views and the log fire.
Ash Pot Barn was a perfect property to spend a long Hen weekend with the girls. We all loved the cottage, it was clean, fresh and very comfortable and we will return again in the future.
The cottage was very clean, large and homely.
We thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday at Ash Pot Barn. Beautifully decorated, fantastic views, no bad comments what so ever!
Stunning location. Beautifully restored barn. Spacious, clean and comfortable. A thank you to the owner for providing a cot and high chair for our one year old. I would love to return in the summer.
The Barn was in a beautiful location. It was so peaceful. The inside of the barn was fantastic. We were a group of three families and we had plenty of space for everyone. It was a great location for complete peace with easy access to both the lakes and the beautiful surrounding hills and countryside. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We will come again without a doubt.
Beautiful place - well situated for all that we wanted to do. Plenty of space for the 7 of us that were there.
A beautiful property in the heart of the Howgill Fells. Walks start at the front door! The 'Fat Lamb' pub (2miles down road) is excellent.
I particularly liked how peaceful the area was. The cottage was perfect for what we wanted and the views were amazing. I would definitely go back.
Location, views, standard of decoration, cleanliness. Great with kids to be able to walk out of door into countryside and they loved seeing the sheep.
Super barn, cleanliness of property and location was great!
Superb modern, spacious accommodation. In an ideal location for taking walks straight from the front door to travelling short distances to climb mountains.
Well heated with lashings of hot water - great for time of year. Ideal for walkers, numerous walks on the doorstep with wonderful views of the fells. Loved the peaceful isolated position.
The barn was brilliant, exceeded expectations. Location was wonderful and picturesque. Great social living space and great kitchen. There were 7 girls, we all felt safe and we will all definitely be making a return visit at some point.
Beautiful place and beautiful views from your doorstep.
We loved the location and being able to walk straight out onto the hills. It was useful having the owner next door just in case you needed anything. The cottage was very attractive and we particularly liked the open plan kitchen/dining room/sitting room. The bedrooms were comfortable and the 3 bathrooms very useful with a big group.
The location was superb and in general the property was excellent. Booking the holiday was very straightforward.
This was our second visit to Ash Pot Barn. It is the perfect location for anyone who wants to get away from it all. The setting is remote and quiet and the views are fantastic. When we were there the weather was awful but it was still a comfortable and relaxing place to be.
Amazing location, authentic, clean and a well maintained property. We had a wonderful time!
A beautifully appointed barn, in a remote and peaceful situation, thoroughly enjoyed by all the family.
The views were fantastic and it was a lovely place to just chill.
The Barn is extremely quiet and relaxing, just what we needed. It is very well appointed and has everything you need. We have recommended the Barn to family and friends.
We all liked the wonderful location of the Ash Pot Barn, the picturesque setting, the spacious accommodation particularly the sitting room and lounge area and most of all the hospitality of the owner, were all contributing factors in having a memorable holiday with my family.
We had a fantastic time away as a large family group. Loved the views, garden and situation of the property. All age groups of our family party loved it! Thanks to the owner and family for being so helpful.
Great location, lovely lay out of the property with plenty of space for all friends and family. The owner was very welcoming and hospitable. Very warm and cosy place to relax and have a fun New Year break.
