Caxterway @ Farditch Farm

Large and Pet-Friendly Peak District Holiday Cottage. Sleeps 10

Large families or groups of friends can enjoy the good life at Caxterway, a beautifully converted barn creating family-friendly self-catering accommodation surrounded by idyllic countryside for up to 10 guests in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Much thought has been given to designing this comfortably furnished Derbyshire holiday cottage to suit the needs of guests planning to spend much of their holiday in the great outdoors. The entrance hall has been designed with sufficient space for pairs of muddy boots to dry out overnight, and with four bathrooms with plenty of hot water, queues for a warming bath or shower will be mercifully short. For winter walking holidays, Caxterway always offers a warm and cosy ambience.

For those guests who spend their days working up an appetite, the kitchen has been well-equipped to store, prepare and serve big breakfasts and even bigger dinners for large groups of hungry people. And make it easy to wash up afterwards. In warmer months, there is the option to BBQ and dine on Caxterway’s private terrace while enjoying the sunset.

The barn is delightfully light and airy thanks to the installation of large, full-height windows. These serve a dual purpose: they allow light to flood the interior while giving those indoors gorgeous rural views.

The five comfortable bedrooms comprise three doubles, each with an en suite bathroom and two twins sharing a family bathroom. One of the double bedrooms is on the ground floor, which will suit those preferring to avoid using stairs.

There is a large adjacent grass field available for guests with enough energy left after a day out in the Peak District. It is large enough for ball games and more walks (with or without your dog).

Caxterway is one of three luxury holiday cottages at Farditch Farm. It is located just outside the pretty Peak District village of Chelmorton, where the Church Inn has tempting lunch and dinner menus for times when you want to eat out. The area also has plenty of other pet and child-friendly pubs and cafes.

There are plenty of attractive days out to fill a week or more within easy reach of Caxterway. The attractive spa towns of Buxton, Bakewell, and Matlock are little more than a short drive, as is Chatsworth House, one of England’s most impressive stately homes (and is open to the public). For children and theme park lovers, Gulliver’s Kingdom (which younger children will adore) Alton Towers is near enough for a day trip and still be back in time to enjoy an evening at the Opera House in Buxton.

Above all, the Peak District is a place to enjoy some excellent off-road walking and cycling. Explore the Tissington and Monsall Trails, cycle paths that run along track beds of old railway lines, or enjoy some more demanding days on the High Peak Trail. Do these and much more from the comfort of this lovely Peak District holiday cottage in Derbyshire, surrounded by friends and family.
