Rose Barn

If you’re looking for a place to return to after a wonderful day of walking (or cycling) in the gorgeous Derbyshire Peak District, then look no further than Rose Barn!

This pet-friendly small holiday cottage cottage is situated near enough to Buxton to meet the needs of a family of four during their stay but far enough away to allow that family to spend the day exploring the beautiful countryside around the little rural hamlet of Sparrowpit which can be seen from the back patio of Rose Barn.

The kitchen at Rosebarn comes well-equipped and many families have enjoyed a well-deserved meal at the table while recounting the adventures of the day. The sitting room is quite cosy with seating for four, the bedrooms are comfortable and perfect for recharging after a day of activity, and the views of the foothills are absolutely breathtaking.

At the start of each day, you can walk out the door of this rural retreat in Derbyshire and be in Edale or Castleton in a couple of short miles. The Peak District of Derbyshire is a wonderful location for a sightseeing trip. Walk up to Rushup Edge and gaze out over the countryside as it sprawls out beautifully before you. If cycling is for you, then head over to Tissington Trail and spend your day in awe of nature. There are so many things to do here, and at the end of the day you can always return to Rose Barn and relax with your loved ones while planning the next day’s adventures.

Cosy and convenient place

The house is very well situated for visitors to the Peaks. Contemporary fittings, clean and comfortable. We particularly liked the dishwasher. No holiday let should really be without one!!
Internet access was missed, however.
Seating in the lounge was just adequate for the 4 of us, High tog polyester duvets may be too hot for some and one single bed mattress was a bit uncomfortable for an adult. Recommended, good value.

Very comfortable and all the extras made a difference

On arrival it was pouring with rain and we had two dogs and all the luggage to unload. I found it difficult to reverse my medium sized car into the parking area as it is quite narrow, A large car would never fit. Once in, I was only able to open a door on one side of the vehicle. Having said that, we were always able to find a space outside to park on the roadside. The garden is alot smaller than it looks in the photos and the grass could have done with cutting too. When we stayed in one evening, we found the furniture was not very comfortable to sit on for long periods.
Apart from the above, we did love the cottage and the way it was set out. There was also everything you could need, from clothes pegs to a bottle opener, I have never been to a better equipped Cotage. Having the two dogs it would have been nice to be able to let them into the garden from the door, but the door led onto the driveway, with nothing to stop them getting onto the road, this meant we had to put leads on to take them for a wee.
The views are lovely from the garden, looking over the open fields and we walked most days from the cottage, without the need to take the car. The pub at the bottom of the road is very handy and we ate there a couple of nights, food was excellent with a good choice on the menu.
Everything was clean, neat and tidy in the cottage and we loved the decor, simple but effective.
We left the dogs one day in the local kennels as they were not interested in our shopping day! These were located about three miles from the cottage and very reasonable for price.

We would consider going back again and loved the area

Amazing Cottage and Location

Arrived for a four night stay after a very heavy snowfall. However, owners had cleared entrance to drive and cottage.
Lovely local walks, so driving is not really necessary. Castleton, Wynatts Pass, Snake Pass, Goyt Valley, Derwent Dams, Chatsworth House must be a high priority for you to visit, and are a short drive away.

Temperatures were -5 overnight, but the cottage was always extremely cosy and warm. Windows can still be opened for fresh air with our effecting the cottage temperatures.
All home comforts well maintained, DVD films and books also left for visitors to use. The cottage is so well maintained and immaculate inside. Fresh bed linen, towels available to. The beds were very comfortable, with extra bedding should You be cold...I really do doubt this though!
After a long day walking in sub zero temps, the lovely hot shower was most welcoming, even allowing you to warm your towels up on the heated towel rack.
Lovely secluded garden with amazing views over the peaks.
Overall, this cottage is an all year luxury accommodation. I will most certainly return no matter what season.
Do not miss an opportunity to stay here! I will be back soon.
