A Derbyshire Farmhouse in the picturesque Peak District village of Carsington, Swiers Farmhouse offers self-catering holidays for up to 18 guests in 6 bedrooms. This Grade II-listed character property is perfect for holidays or weekend breaks for extended families or groups of friends in a large and spacious holiday home with landscaped gardens.
Inside this south-facing property is a warm and comfortable world of oak beams, stone-mullioned windows and polished floorboards.
The dining room can accommodate a total of 16 around the large oak table. On winter nights, dine to the murmour (and warmth) of a fire crackling in the stone inglenook. The kitchen is fitted with hand-painted bespoke units accommodating all the kitchen appliances, utensils, crockery and cutlery required to serve up sumptuous dinners to a full house of guests. A local chef is also available to bring in if required. Facilities include a large electric hob and oven, dishwasher, toaster, a built-in larder fridge all surrounding another farmhouse table, oh, and a comfortable sofa, should the culinary arts practiced in the kitchen become a spectator sport.
Step from doors in the kitchen and dining room on to a flagstoned terrace and the large garden with a lawn easily able to accommodate a decent ball-game before tea.
A utility room is also to be found on the ground floor, equipped with an additional fridge, freezer plus a washing machine and drying rails.
The Swiers Farmhouse lounge is located on the first floor. Like the dining room, expect a stone fireplace, mullion windows, a window seat, an assortment of armchairs along with three large sofas, one of which converts to a bed. The wide-planked timber floor is partly covered by Chinese silk rug. If conversation should ever dry up, there is a LCD digital TV with Sky, plus a DVD-player and even a video player together with some good books for those who fancy a little holiday reading.
Also on the first floor is a study that can double as an occasional bedroom and two family bathrooms. Both, one at each end of the house, are equipped with a bath (with shower over), basin and WC. The second-floor houses the other three bedrooms. These are furnished with a comfortable blend of antiques and modern pieces.
The garden outside is extensive, being about 2-acres in size and having a large lawn and views to contemplate.
Swiers is located in an idyllic location adjacent to the church and opposite the Village Green in Carsington with a lush green backdrop of hills dotted with grazing sheep. It’s a great location for a holiday in the great outdoors, whether walking in the Peak District or sailing, windsurfing or kayaking on the nearby Carsington Water.
