Barnfield is a warm, friendly and beautifully furnished holiday cottage nestling at the edge of the sleepy village of Bratton Fleming, a few miles North of Barnstaple on the edge of Exmoor. The big sand and surf beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton are all within a 30-minute drive.

This large thatched 17th Century listed cottage offers luxury self-catering accommodation to groups and families (and their pets).

Although it has been carefully refurbished, the cottage boasts charming period features including the original inglenook fireplace, oak beams and flagstone floors.

Ground floor accommodation comprises a lounge with large inglenook fireplace, wood burner and double sofa-bed, a large, well-equipped kitchen diner with Aga-style stove, separate dining room, utility room, ground floor bedroom, large games-chillout room and an en-suite shower room with basin and WC.

The ground floor bedroom has level access from the BBQ terrace and the drive through French Windows. This has zip and link beds allowing it to be used as a double or twin room.

Upstairs are three good size bedrooms (one with en-suite shower and basin) comprising 2 doubles and a twin (full-size bunk beds). and a family bathroom having a bath with shower over.

The secure garden contains two small lawns, patios, one with a BBQ and large outdoor table, flower beds and a drive suitable for parking 2-3 cars. It lies on a quiet lane (a Sustrans National Cycle Route) which leads to an abundance of country and village walks.

The cottage is pet-friendly. We'll even provide a temporary dog tag (with a local contact number), spare bowl and lead, throws for the furniture, and details of dog-friendly local beaches and walks.

Families with young children and infants are also welcome and cared for with facilities such as cots, highchairs, baby monitors, plug guards, cutlery, crockery and more.

A Most Enjoyable Stay!

July 20th 2018

We had a most enjoyable stay! The cottage is delightful and has everything you need for a ‘home from home’ experience! The welcome hamper was an added bonus (smiley face). We have explored the surrounding area and can recommend Woolacombe Beach, Clovelly and Appledore, not forgetting Exmoor Zoo which pleasantly surprised us with hands-on experiences for people of all ages! We would love to come back in the future and explore some more. Thank you!.

Lovely Family Break in a Great Location

June 15th 2018

We have had a really lovely family break – great location to get to places. Great weather, some lovely days on Saunton beach and also fab trips to Lynton, Lynmouth and Watersmeet. Cottage very welcoming – we really appreciated the welcome pack and enjoyed the yummy cake. Cottage layout excellent for us and such comprehensive amenities – home from home and more! So good to be able to bring dogs and have a secure garden. Baarnfield has provided all we have wanted. We definitely recommend and hope to return. Thank you.

Wonderful, Happy and Enjoyable

March 23rd 2018

We had a wonderful time exploring the area from our comfortable base at Barnfield. We slept so well and had such a relaxing stay. Favourite days out for the children included Watermouth castle and The Dinosaur Park in Combe Martin. We had an enjoyable meal at the Black Venus Pub in Challacombe were wonderful and amazing Friday Night Fish and Chips from the chip-van in the village. Thank you so much for providing such a well-equipped holiday home and handy for the beach. The children were very happy to discover the toys and buckets and spades.

Many thanks for our stay in your fabulous cottage. The Boys really enjoyed the Games Room. We all had great nights in front of the woodburning stove. Beautiful countryside also a pleasure. We did one of the circular walks from the leaflet in the Welcome Book.

February 12th 2017

We had a very enjoyable stay, felt very at home and relaxed with everything we could possibly need – and more! We made the most of the dry weather– a circular walk around Lynton and Valley of the Rocks, a walk over Countisbury Headland to the Lighthouse and down to Heddon’s Mouth. Lovely meal at the Black Venus in Challacombe. Overall a fantastic weekend. Fantastic accommodation and a helpful, friendly host. Thanks for having us!
