Horizon is perfectly located for holidays exploring
With Newberry Beach just yards from the front door and uninterrupted sea views across Combe Martin bay, Horizon is also ideally located for a traditional seaside holiday, and for discovering the wider attractions of North Devon and Exmoor.
Horizons is a very comfortably furnished, well-equipped and centrally heated Victorian townhouse offering self-catering holidays in the North Devon little seaside village of Combe Martin. The house has rooms on 3-floors giving glorious sea views to the front and has been recently extended to include an ensuite bathroom and a second floor shower room. It has 4 bedrooms (1 ensuite) and 2 bathrooms, one with separate bath and shower and one with shower all offering plentiful hot water, ensuring there is little likelihood of bathroom queues before breakfast. On the ground floor is a spacious lounge with bay window overlooking the beach, a separate dining room, kitchen and separate toilet.
With three televisions (and a DVD) in the house, there won't be any battles over the TV remote control either. The TV in the sitting room has Freeview and Freesat channels. A second TV in the dining room also has Freeview as does the TV in the master bedroom.
The kitchen is very well-equipped to cater for all requirements and includes a 5-ring gas hob, new electric fan oven, microwave, toaster, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, lots of kitchen utensils and even a collection of cookery books.
Emphasising its appeal as an all-year-round holiday house, the open log fire in the sitting room guarantees a warm cosy ambience after a day out walking the cliff tops along the South West Coast Path which runs past the front of the house. Coast Path walks over Great Hangman and Trentishoe to Woody Bay take you (safely) along the highest cliff tops in Europe. Bring your own music collection on holiday - the lounge also contains an i-Pod dock and multi-CD player. There are also lots of games and toys in the House to keep little ones happily occupied.
Children (and adults) will adore rock pooling on Combe Martin's main beach using the supply of nets and crab lines to be found in the house, while for bigger beaches and surfing activities, the golden stretches of sand at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands are within an easy drive.
The four bedrooms are located on the first and second floors.
On the first floor is the master bedroom with King-size double bed has wonderful sea views and the sound of waves tumbling on to the beach below. A good-sized twin bedroom with travel cot is also located on this floor, along with a family bathroom having a bath and stand-alone shower.
On the second floor and still within wave listening distance, is a second double bedroom with another king-size bed and gorgeous sea views. This bedroom has an en suite shower room with WC, heated towel rail and basin. The final room is a bunk bedroom with adult-sized beds, which is located beside a newly installed shower room with WC, heated towel rail and basin.
On sunny days, sit outside on the elevated patio to the front of Horizon to soak up the afternoon sun while enjoying the ocean views. A second patio to the rear of the house also enjoys sunshine for the majority of the day. Horizon also has off-road parking for two cars in tandem(rare in this village!), with un-restricted road parking to the front of the house. We regret that pets cannot be accepted.
Combe Martin is a happy little seaside village, with a good choice of pubs, cafes and other seaside shops, as well as other general shops, making it easy to keep the larder stocked without having to resort to a supermarket shop every day. Further afield is the Victorian seaside resort of Ilfracombe in one direction and the coastal villages of Lynton and Lynmouth in the other. There are plenty of family attractions to fill a fortnight or more of days out in North Devon, offering all sorts of experiences from quad biking to feeding baby lambs. All in all, Horizon is a perfect place to visit for a full holiday or short break with family or friends at any time of year. We hope you enjoy staying there as much as we do!
OUR EXPECTATIONS WERE FULFILLED! by Mike W, August 2016 on October 19th 2016
Having seen the description and read the reviews we had very high expectations, and we certainly weren’t disappointed. All in all we had a really wonderful holiday. Would love to go back to Horizon again soon.
Ideal place to stay by P. Beauchamp on August 6th 2016
This was an ideal place for all my family to be together in a fantastic location. With the sound of the sea at night and the well appointed property it was just perfect for all of us. Would certainly go again. Loved it!
A winner for the whole family by Joanna S. and family on July 23rd 2016
Horizon was great for our family holiday, grandparents, parents and kids had plenty of space so it didn't feel crowded and the house had everything we needed. The kids loved their bedroom and the toys to play with, which was a nice touch. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely. The location of the house was a winner for us, a pebble beach right across the road and the main Combe Martin beach about 3 mins walk. We enjoyed sitting outside the front of the house in the evening, with a drink and enjoying the sea views! The kids loved crabbing in all the rock pools and beach cricket every night, along with kayaking and a trip to the local dinosaur park. We would definitely stay again.
We couldn't recommend it more! by Ruth T on July 2nd 2016
We had an amazing stay at Horizon. The house itself is lovely and very nicely done on the inside. It's ideal for a family as there is so much space. The house is right on the beach so we spent our evenings going for a little swim and often had the cove to ourselves when the tide was in. At night you can fall asleep to the lapping waves and first thing you can be up and exploring the beach within a couple of minutes from the front door. A great spot to explore North Devon, we couldn't recommend it more!
