Mill Wheel at Wheel Farm
Sleeps 5

Mill Wheel at Wheel Farm

Once an original watermill, Mill Wheel holiday cottage at Wheel Farm in Combe Martin, North Devon, has been carefully restored to create a comfortable and well-equipped 2-storey self-catering cottage. The cottage has an "up-side- down' layout with the living area on the first floor to take maximum advantage of the rural views.

On the first floor, you'll find a large open-plan living space comprising of a lounge/diner and kitchen. Patio doors lead out onto a private patio and garden area. A vaulted ceiling, exposed stone walls, a wood-burning stove combined with modern day furnishings provides plenty of period charm but also comfortable accommodation.

A pine farmhouse table comfortably seats up to 5 guests and provides a lovely setting for meals together on your self-catering holiday. The kitchen is well-equipped with a microwave, hob and oven and a fridge (with smaller freezer section). A dishwasher (where an initial supply of tablets are provided) allows visitors to spend less time on washing-up and more time out enjoying the local countryside or nearby beaches. Complimentary cots and high chairs are also available if booked in advance. Also free is WiFi, although, please note that being located in a very rural area, broadband speeds fall short of those used to urban speeds.

On the ground floor of the cottage there is a double bedroom, a twin room and a single bedroom with views over the great wheel and cottage garden. The family bathroom has a large walk in shower but no bath.

If you are planning a holiday with other friends, Mill Wheel can be booked in conjunction with Lower Mill and Upper Mill holiday cottages as one large property to sleep up to 8-10 people.

Facilities at Wheel Farm include an indoor heated swimming pool (very popular with all ages at all times of the year). There is also a tennis court, so do not forget to pack your racquets, as well as swimming costumes!

There is plenty to do while staying at Wheel Farm, from family attractions such as The Big Sheep, Milky Way and 10-pin bowling to a host of children's attractions such as Watermouth Castle, Funderzone and The Milky Way. Explore the whole of North Devon, with its beautiful walks, coastal footpaths, tiny villages still living in the 1950's and the moors and riverside walks on Exmoor. Alternatively, hire bikes to ride the 30-mile scenic Tarka Trail through the Taw and Torridge Estuaries along an old railway line.
