The Shippen is a lovingly restored 2 bedroom barn conversion at Stonehayes Farm nestling in idyllic countryside near Honiton in East Devon.
The Shippen sleeps 2-5 guests in one double and one triple bedroom, the master bedroom also having an en suite shower room with WC.
On the ground floor a light and airy open plan living area contains a stylish woodburning stove to keep the room warm during out of season breaks. The room has leather sofas, a digital TV with DVD, a dining area and kitchen. This is extremely well equipped with granite worktops, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, overn with hob, fridge freezer and a host of other useful utilities.
Outside guests at The Shippen have exclusive use of a grassy area with, BBQ, table and chairs from which to enyoy attractive country views.
Upstairs are two good-sized bedrooms. The master bedroom has a 5ft double bed and en suite shower room. The second bedroom has 3 full sized single beds, two of which can be connected to form a second double bed, making the cottage perfect for 2 couples or a family of 5.
There is also a family bathroom.
As well as their own garden area, guests also have access to 17-acres of farmland - a chance to pet a few sheep or go on foraging hunts for free range eggs laid by the chickens. Children also have access to a well-equipped play area with fort and trampoline. There is also a games room with pool table and other activities available together with covered parking. A meandering, tree-lined stream wanders through the fields along which shaded picnic spots have been created - perfect for an outdoor lunch and a spot of paddling.
All utilities, bed linen and towels are included in the price. A delicious welcome pack is also included and often features produce from the farm, including free range eggs, sausages, jam and bread, together with milk and a bottle of wine.
Stonehayes lies on the edge of the Blackdown Hills (with planty of stunning footpaths to explore), near the village of Combe Raleigh, just 3 miles from Honiton. The town has a twice weekly street market and all the shops and services needed to keep the kitchen and picnic hampers fully stocked.
Although surrounded by beautiful countryside, Stonehayes Farm is within an easy drive of East Devon's seaside resorts such as Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth and Beer, as well as Lyme Regis just across the border in Dorset. Ask the owner's nicely and they'll point you in the direction of some wonderful, but rarely visited beaches such as Salcombe Regis and Littlecombe Shute.
There are plenty of other attractions in the area from National Trust Houses such as Killerton Park to Creally Farm whose attractions young children will absolutely love.
With so much to offer from such a lovely holiday cottage, it's no wonder that so many guests return year after year.
