Cosy Cottage - Superb Location

We wanted a traditional cottage (not a bungalow masquerading) in a real village, and we got it. Fantastic. Scones with Devonshire clotted cream on arrival.

We have two young ones (2 & 6) so the location was perfect. The 'amazing' Big Sheep is just around the corner. A great bike ride along the 'Otter Trail', great beaches nearby and the beautiful Woolacoombe beach just up the road (take the hill road and drop down through the dunes to escape the masses). Clovelly is nearby too and still truly beautiful.

Perfect

The cottage was very clean and comfortable, felt like home from home. Incredibly quite location and very friendly villagers. Perfect location for Rosemoor, Dartington glass and a visit to Hartland abbey Bay, superb. Great walks along the Tarka Trail. Whatever you are interested in, this is a perfect spot.

A great holiday in a dream cottage in an excellent location

The warmest of welcomes from the owner who made us feel at home immediately. The cottage contains everything and more for a perfect break. Comfortable bed and extremely well equipped kitchen and bathroom. A log burner in the lounge made for a very cosy end to each day. Best of all was the fact that pub was two minutes walk away, where a wide selection of real ales was available and the food is of a high standard and you are welcomed as a villager not an outsider visiting.

Great cottage nice location

On arrival the tea and Scones sat on the table, we was greeted by the owner who lives next door, the kitchen was great with a modern looking old fashion stove that was simply fantastic, the sitting room was nice with a old fashion log fire, next to the kitchen was a down stairs toilet and a large shower and separate bath, the two bedrooms where large and the beds very comfortable, the small upstairs toilet was very small and not used.
Local super markets about a mile away, and the location was central to may attractions.
Car parking was a little tight as the village has narrow roads.

Mrs Charles

Beautiful spot and lovely hosts.

Mr Stone

The warm welcome from the owners (and neighbours!) and comfort of the holiday cottage.

Mrs Clerkin

An excellent base to visit both north and south Devon and also parts of Cornwall. The owners gave us a warm welcome and we particularly appreciated the scones, clotted cream and jam to have with a cup of tea after our long journey.

Mrs Woodcock

The cottage was cosy, clean and well-equipped. The location of the cottage was also delightful.
We received a warm and helpful welcome on our arrival.

Mrs Burtenshawjones

A great location, a great cottage property and a great welcome - scones with jam and Devonshire clotted cream.

Mr Fogg

Elm Cottage was a home from home; its location is perfectly-placed in a quiet village setting but importantly remaining within easy reach of most amenities. The location is excellent for both local tourist spots and beaches plus its good for sightseeing over the wider area. And the cream tea offered on arrival was - if you pardon the pun - the icing on the cake. Well recommended.

Mr Barrett

Cottage was so clean, warm and comfortable and having the owners(who were delightful) next door was a bonus. Everyone very friendly in this lovely area of Devon. Would highly recommend it.
Thank you.

Mrs Cooper

Mrs Burton

Very comfortable cottage, in a quiet and picturesque village. Owners were most helpful and friendly. Location excellent for exploring my family history and for revisiting the stunning North Devon coastline. We made good use of the frequent bus service to save on parking in Bideford and Barnstaple.

Miss Parsons

The opportunity to relax in a comfortable homely setting. The owners are excellent hosts and make you feel very welcome.

Mr Murch

The cottage was well appointed, attractive and clean. There was continual hot water on tap and heating available if needed. The decor was good with some really nice touches and time and care had been taken with the cottage. Having a pub with a kids' play area close by was very welcome.

Mr Taylor

The setting of the cottage was ideal, in a small village with a lovely pub. It was everything you imagine a Devon cottage to be. We were made to feel very welcome and immediately felt at home. The situation of the cottage is perfect for exploring North Devon. I would recommend it to anyone. The scones, cream and jam on arrival was a lovely and welcome touch. The close proximity to the Tarka trail and bicycle hire in Bideford is a must, as is a visit to Clovelly. Appledore across the estuary is well worth a visit for the pubs, fish and chips and ice cream, (delicious) but not very slimming.

Mr Staples

A fabulous place for a holiday especially if you like the peace and quiet and enjoying walking. The Tarka Trail was very close and there was good walking for all ages. The owners were very helpful.

Mr Pillen

The welcome to the cottage was tremendous, and the cottage was so comfortable that we all felt immediately at home. I know we'll all treasure the memories of the village Jubilee celebrations that the owners invited us to. All in all, a beautiful cottage in a delightful village ideally situated for visiting Devon and Cornwall.

This place and its owners are so welcoming and sincere, a real gem and you can't help but have a fabulous holiday when staying at this cottage, whether it's rain or shine. From the minute you come through the door and served lovely scones till leaving and having a good bye chat with the owner, its just fab. North Devon is such a lovely hospitable place and we can't wait to return.

Mrs Acock

The cottage is delightful. The owner lives next door so should you need any help or advice they are on hand to do so, but are not intrusive at all. A lovely Devon cream tea to welcome us on arrival.
