The Cornmill’s origins stretch back to the 17th Century, but has been superbly renovated by its interior designer-owner to create a large and utterly luxurious South Devon holiday cottage.

The Cornmill stands in a secluded, tranquil setting in a woodland valley with the brook that once powered the mill winding its way around the edge of the gardens.

This is a large holiday cottage with 6 bedrooms. It’s spacious, superbly furnished and decorated with contemporary fixtures and fittings creating a gorgeous pet friendly holiday home for long summer holidays or weekend breaks in the South Hams in a remote country setting, 3 miles from Kingsbridge.

The accommodation at The Cornmill comprises:

Ground Floor * Front door into large hallway with honey-coloured flag stone flooring that extends throughout the ground floor.

  • A spacious stylishly furnished lounge with rugs, large sofas, chairs, inglenook fireplace, satellite TV with Freeview, DVD and a row of windows overlooking the gardens.

  • Games room, with table football, chairs and CD player.

  • Separate ‘snug’ with chair, footstool and desk.

  • A large, bright and airy kitchen/dining room with pitched ceiling and exposed beams and two sets of double French windows opening to the garden terrace making this a lovely room in which large family groups and friends can gather and eat together around a dining table that seats 12. This room is well-equipped with aStereo/CD player, fitted range of cupboards, Belfast sink, double oven Aga with 2 hot plates, electric hob and built-in oven, dishwasher and 2 larder fridges. Utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, large fridge/freezer, microwave and stable door to the garden.

  • Downstairs WC with basin.

First Floor:

From the hallway are open-sided stone stairs (no hand rail) lead to the first floor landing and carpeted bedrooms comprising:

  • Two bunk bedrooms, both having full size 3ft bunk beds, one with TV.

  • Two very attractive twin bedrooms (3ft beds), both having fitted cupboards and one with French window providing access to a patio area.

  • Shower room with large power shower, basin and WC and a second shower room with power shower and basin.

  • Two steps down to a further landing with separate WC

  • Elegant master bedroom with fitted wardrobes, 4ft 6in bed, garden views from the windows and superb en-suite bathroom with free-standing, roll-top slipper bath, basin and WC.

  • A second attractive double room with 4ft 6in bed, fitted cupboards and en-suite bathroom with bath, hand-held shower attachment, basin and WC.

Outdoors * Sweeping, enclosed level lawns across the front of the house * Raised paved terrace area with garden chairs. * The front lawn is bordered by the mill stream. This flows under a pretty little hump-back bridge. The stream is unfenced and toddlers must be supervised.

  • A further area of level lawn is suitable for croquet (sets provided).

  • Another patio area and lawn can be found to the rear of the house.

  • A 5-bar gate from the quiet country lane running by the house leads to an off-road parking area with space for 4-5 cars.

The Price includes: * Bed linen (not towels) * Wi-Fi * Cot and high chair (please request when booking). * A Fire laid up and ready to light in the Inglenook fireplace with a basket of logs provided. * Additional supplies of logs can be arranged for a charge). * Electricity and oil-fired central heating.

Dogs:

The Cornmill accepts a maximum of 2 dogs. Guests must keep dogs downstairs. There is a charge of £26 per dog per week. Sorry - no cats please.

Fabulous cottage. Worked so well for a family get together. Beautiful location. The kids and dog loved the stream. The adults loved the kitchen/dining area. The new patio area is stunning.

Wow wow wow , we have just spent a long weekend in this absolutely wonderful house. 11 ladies attended and found the house to be even better than the photos. Great areas for all of the party to spend time together, we were blessed with fab weather so the outside patio was fantastic, with evening spent in the big dining area and lounge. Would definitely return or advise as a great place to stay!
