Crofters Cottage

Fantastic walks with Perry, our hound

Accessibility to the South Devon Coastal Path which is the best bit of coastal walking - evocative distant views of yachts and battleships and headland ruins. Also a sighting of the Eddystone - totally weather dependent and clearly unusual as people did not seem to realise you could see the famous structure. Very good substitute for TV with scenery and uncommon wildlife all around.

About Crofters Cottage

  • Sleeps: 4
  • Bedrooms: 1
  • Bathrooms: 1

Crofters Cottage is a lovely old stone cottage with stunning views out to sea, with a simple rustic charm and simplicity.

There is no central heating but there is a woodburner downstairs and there are a couple of portable electric radiators. Downstairs is an open plan living and kitchen area, with a huge oak table separating the two areas and a lovely old slate floor. The kitchen area has all that you need for a comfortable stay, including a dishwasher, and there are chairs and a settee in the living area. Big double doors open up onto a terrace area where you can enjoy stunning views out to sea.

Due to the remote location, there is no television or mobile phone signal – but we think this makes it perfect for a really relaxing break! (There is free WiFi though, so you can still stay in touch.)

A spiral staircase winds up to the first floor, also open plan, which has a superking size bed, two single beds and an antique roll top bath! At one end of the room there are big double doors that open out allowing the sunshine to pour in and giving access to the garden area. There is a very small private closet in the corner of the room with a toilet and basin.

Outside is a private garden and patio, which enjoys stunning views out to sea, as well as a fantastic woodfired hot tub for you to relax in at the end of a hard day’s walking. Just fill it up with fresh water, light up the woodburner attached and keep it fed for a few hours and the hot tub will be ready for use – lovely.

Dogs are very welcome and the cottage is ideal for slightly older children with an adventurous streak!
