Orchard Cottage is a beautifully converted detached barn that stands above an ancient orchard, newly replanted in 2012. It simply oozes character including oak beams, vaulted first floor ceiling and high quality oak furniture.
The accommodation is on two floors with the main living area on the ground floor comprising a large open plan area. Within this are two seating areas, one offering beautiful views across the Devon countryside, a fully equipped kitchen with separate breakfast and dining areas. Kitchen facilities include a large electric range cooker, American style fridge/freezer with water dispenser, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.
The main seating space contains a widescreen television and DVD player and a woodburning stove to guarantee warmth on chilly evenings. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with zip and link beds with en suite bathroom and underfloor heating, appealing to guests who would prefer not to navigate stairs.
An oak staircase leads to the first floor which comprises three bedrooms each with its own bathroom. Two of the rooms are fitted with double beds while the other has a zip and link bed allowing it to be used as a double or twin room according to your preference.
Each of the bathrooms has a bath with powerful showers over plus a WC and washbasin.
Outside Orchard Cottage the spacious South facing terrace has two seating areas both serviced by a BBQ. From the terrace steps provide private access to Mornacott’s apple orchard.
A fine choice of holiday leisure facilities are available to Mornacott guests. These include a croquet lawn and all the kit, an indoor shared heated swimming pool with a sauna, camera stalking for deer, clay pigeon shooting, plenty of walks around the farm and even night time wildlife safaris.
Farm activities: We are always delighted when our younger guests want to help feed the chickens and help to collect eggs and feed other livestock under supervision.
Amenities: The Cottage has adjacent parking for up to three cars. Bed linen, towels, electric, central heating and initial supply of logs included in the price as is Wi-Fi broadband access. Mornacott has good mobile telephone reception for all major operators.
As well as the washing machine located in Orchard Cottage, Mornacott also has on-site coin operated laundry and drying room.
With having farm animals around the place (and much as we love them) we regret we are unable to accept pets.
Smoking is not permitted in the Orchard Cottage.

Local area: Our rural location guarantees peaceful seclusion at Mornacott. At the same time, easy access to the farm and from it to North Devon’s glorious beaches is possible as our location is just a ten-minute drive from the A361 North Devon Link Road from where you can easily get to Saunton Sands, Croyde and Woolacombe. These beaches are ideal for surfers, bathers, sandcastle building and beach cricket enthusiasts alike. Mornacott borders the Exmoor National Park and is just a few minute’s drive from South Molton with its weekly Farmer’s and Pannier markets plus all the main services, shops, pubs and supermarkets you will need during your holiday. The larger town of Barnstaple is within 16 miles with many more shops, a large theatre and cinema.
Great Week in A Great Location by Simon 2-8 April 2016 on April 29th 2016
We had a great week. Great location and close to beaches and other attractions. The children loved being on the farm and getting close to the animals and feeding them. The staff were very helpful and informative.
Beautiful - Absolutely Beautiful! by John 13-19 Feb 2016 on April 29th 2016
The cottage was beautifully presented. The oak framed building was to a very high standard with all bedrooms being en suite. The under floor heating meant that although our stay was in February and it was very cold we were always very warm. The furnishings were most comfortable and the soft furnishings complemented the oak timbers beautifully. We were welcomed with flowers, a delicious cake and milk and eggs in the fridge. The property had plenty of outdoor seating and even a BBQ, although it was too cold to try these out. The open plan living space was large and well set out. Overall a beautiful cottage which could not be faulted and we really enjoyed our stay.
What More Could You Want? by Andrea 22-28 October 2015 on April 29th 2016
A great place to stay, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, lashings of hot water even with 8 of us staying. If you are looking for somewhere to stay with friends or family this is an ideal location with some lovely walks nearby. I would recommend a BBQ pack whatever the weather as they are delicious!
Location Lovely Location by Andrea, 5-11 September 2015 on April 29th 2016
A lovely house in a beautiful location. A very well run organisation and we would recommend not only their own meat products but the chef cooking for you which was beautifully done. The night safari was also very well organised.
Peace and Views by Keith 15-21 August 2015 on April 29th 2016
Orchard Cottage is a lovely property, fantastic interior and very clean. It's well equipped and an excellent size for 7 people, 4 of which were very busy children. Nice and quiet with lovely views especially the buzzards and wild deer, I would recommend highly.

Definitely Coming Back! by Lorraine 31 July 2015 on April 29th 2016
We had a terrific week at Mornacott. The children loved staying at the farm. They fell in love with the owner's Jack Russell called Patch - now they want a dog ! The walks from the farm were all excellent. Well marked maps with easy to follow instructions, and beautiful North Devon countryside. Really well equipped kitchen, and overall great accommodation. I cannot think of anything that you could add that hadn't been thought of! We would definitely go back.
