We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, welcome and accommodation
Thank you for a wonderful stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, welcome and accommodation. How could I forget rescuing the pheasant clutch, and the last night when we saw the barn owl hunting over the field in front of us. The children loved the space and M... enjoyed the badminton and the nature walk with Maggie. We will be back!

Beech Lodge is located at Wheatland Farm, which has twice won Visit England's top award for sustainable tourism. It is the largest of just three charming wooden lodges at the edge of a meadow. Screened by trees on three sides, huge windows face south towards Dartmoor. Inside, Beech Lodge is light, spacious, warm and comfortable. It boasts a large bathroom, hand-made beds and plenty of quirky upcycled style. The hot tub (£35 per stay) is exclusively yours. Relax and watch the wildlife - or maybe Devon's fabulous stars!
The lodge sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. The double room has French doors to its own veranda (with seating). The window in the twin room looks out into mature trees, and the bunk room overlooks the corner of the meadow. The large kitchen/living area is open plan with a proper sofa and easy chairs, a flat screen TV (if you can tear your eyes away from the windows!), dining table and a coffee table made from a slab of a fallen beech tree. The Wifi is free so you can stay connected. The kitchen is well equipped with induction hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge freezer and the usual toaster/kettle etc. Beech Lodge’s bathroom has a generously sized bath and an over-the-bath shower, toilet, basin. Please note, although the lodge is mostly one level, there are steps up and one internal step between the bathroom and main living area.
A world away from both the serried ranks of plastic holiday parks and the pseudo-chic of ‘out of the box’ glamping, Beech Lodge offers luxurious accommodation with wildlife on your doorstep. Take a free guided nature walk, borrow bikes or take a boat out on the pond (or enjoy a spot of wild swimming). Play badminton with the kids or hide away with a book in the 'turbine room' indoor garden. A short walk up the road takes you to a great farm shop on a neighbouring farm. The owners live on site and welcome guests like old friends. They are always happy to help out and have researched an extensive list of local days out and things to do. Winkleigh village is a mile and half away and has good pubs, a small convenience store and several other shops, including The Mad Butcher of Winkleigh.
This lodge accepts 2 well-behaved dogs, and there’s ample space to let them run and enjoy the freedom as much as you do.
This lodge welcomes everyone, but especially suits those looking for a greener holiday without compromising on quality. All your power is renewable (most is generated on site) and there are excellent recycling facilities. But best of all, your stay actively helps finance Wheatland Farm's long term conservation plan. So you'll be leaving Devon's countryside in even better shape than you found it.
Grateful for helping us spend this holiday car free

As our sojourn at your farm comes to a close, we are reflecting on the past few days and want to express our gratitude towards the place, the people -- you. We're especially grateful for you helping us spend this holiday car free by dropping us off and picking us up. We're leaving Wheatland Farm with our minds filled with sunlight and nature, and we hope to see you again!
