Beech Lodge is the largest of just three wooden lodges set among trees at the edge of a meadow. Screened on three sides, its views face south towards Dartmoor, overlooking grassland where you can BBQ or have a campfire. Complementing its surroundings on the outside, inside Beech Lodge is light, spacious, warm and comfortable.
The lodge sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. The double room has French doors to its own terrace. The window in the twin room looks out into mature trees, and the bunk room overlooks the corner of the meadow. The large kitchen/living area is open plan with a proper sofa and easy chairs, a flat screen TV (if you can tear your eyes away from the windows!), dining table and a coffee table made from a slice of a fallen beech tree. The Wifi is free so you can stay connected. The kitchen is well equipped with induction hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge freezer and the usual toaster/kettle etc. Beech Lodge’s bathroom has a generously sized bath and an over-the-bath shower, toilet, basin. Please note, although the lodge is mostly one level, there are steps up and one internal step between the bathroom and main living area.
A world away from both the serried ranks of plastic holiday parks and the pseudo-chic of ‘out of the box’ glamping, Beech Lodge offers luxurious accommodation with wildlife on your doorstep. Take a free guided walk around this award-winning farm, borrow bikes or take a boat out on the pond or enjoy a spot of wild swimming. Play badminton with the kids or hide away with a book in the turbine room indoor garden. A short walk up the road takes you to a great farm shop on the neighbouring farm. The owners live on site and welcome guests like old friends. They are always happy to help out and have researched an extensive list of local days out and things to do. Winkleigh village is a mile and half away and has good pubs, a small convenience store and several other shops, including The Mad Butcher of Winkleigh.
This lodge accepts 2 well-behaved dogs, and there’s ample space to let them run and enjoy the freedom as much as you do.
