Until next time!
Our stay at Wheatland Farm was 'awesome', as the boys would put it. They are now hooked on whittling, with willow sticks and creatures cropping up everywhere. Until next time!

Honeysuckle Lodge is a perfect rural retreat. Think dog-friendly woodsman’s cottage with porch swing, upcycled style like the piano cover headboard and cable drum coffee table; but also modern necessities like wifi, and a fully equipped kitchen. Luxurious for 2, comfortable and cosy for 4, Honeysuckle Lodge brings you a back to nature holiday home on award-winning Wheatland Farm, which is managed entirely for wildlife.
The Lodge may sit in peacefully remote countryside in the heart of Devon, but just up the road is a friendly farm shop (advance orders welcome), with further shops and a thatched pub in the centre of Winkleigh. You can even get a wine delivery! The owners, who live on site, have developed an extensive guide to local eateries and things to do, some of which you can get to on the free-to-borrow farm bikes.
When school’s out, families love the 21 acres to run wild, the bikes; the boats on the wildlife pond; as well as nearby adventures like the Tarka Trail; a day at the North Devon beaches; or an expedition to Dartmoor National Park. And when you’ve done all that, a sunset on Honeysuckle Lodge’s south-facing veranda beckons. Outside the summer holidays, couples and singles will get the best of rural Devon almost to themselves, experiencing the sort of welcome you only get ‘off the beaten track’.
Inside the Lodge you’ll find two bedrooms (a double and bunk), and a fully-equipped kitchen. The bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. But the living area is the highlight, with sliding doors to a south facing veranda and a meadow. Watch the birds on the feeders, be charmed by the summer butterflies, and keep an eye out for owls at dusk.
Your self catering holiday will be sustainable too - all the power is entirely renewable (much of it generated onsite with wind and solar systems), and the recycling facilities are excellent. Basically, your stay helps pay for the whole farm to be managed as a nature reserve, so you can relax knowing you are helping keep Devon the glorious destination you chose to visit

Many thanks for an absolutely lovely stay. We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed walking in the wood, spotting primroses, squelching in the mud, paddling in the stream, watching the robin who visited us every day, and listening to the birdsong at twilighght. We will definitely be back!
