Honeysuckle Lodge is a perfect rural retreat. Think dog-friendly woodsman’s cottage with porch swing, upcycled style like the piano cover headboard and cable drum coffee table; but also modern necessities like wifi, and a fully equipped kitchen. Luxurious for 2, comfortable but cosy for 4, Honeysuckle Lodge brings you a back to nature holiday home on an award-winning farm managed for wildlife. The Lodge may sit in a peacefully remote countryside location in the heart of Devon, but just up the road is a friendly farm shop (advance orders welcome), with further shops and a thatched pub in the centre of Winkleigh. Honeysuckle is part of Wheatland Farm and its rental helps to sustain the land as a nature reserve for you to enjoy.
Outside the summer holidays, couples and singles will find the best of rural Devon, charming nearby pubs and the sort of welcome you only get ‘off the beaten track’. When school’s out, families love the 21 acres to run wild, the bikes; the boats on the wildlife pond; as well as nearby adventures like the Tarka Trail; a day at the North Devon beaches; or an expedition to Dartmoor National Park. And when you’ve done all that, a sunset on Honeysuckle Lodge’s south-facing veranda beckons.
Back inside the Lodge, you’ll find two bedrooms (a double and bunk), a proper-sized living and cooking area with TV, sofa, and fully equipped kitchen. And of course, there’s a bathroom - with a shower.
Honeysuckle Lodge is a self-catering holiday home, but just half a mile up the road you’ll find a friendly farm shop. You can even order ahead. It’s easy to have a sustainable Devon holiday here – all the power is entirely renewable (much of it generated onsite with wind and solar systems), and the recycling facilities are excellent. Basically, your stay helps pay for the whole farm to be managed as a nature reserve, so you can relax knowing you are helping keep Devon the glorious destination you chose to visit
