Property Details

Lovely Nuthatch Lodge boasts big picture windows and a south-facing veranda overlooking grassland with views towards Dartmoor. Trees on three sides give you privacy and bring the birdsong to your doorstep (and the nuthatches to the bird feeder). Nuthatch Lodge’s cosy but comfortable interior offers much more space than most glamping pods, with separate double and bunk rooms, a bathroom with short bath (good for young kids) and over bath shower. The main room is an open plan kitchen living area with sofa, flat screen TV, dining table and fully-equipped kitchen (oven, hob, full-size fridge freezer, microwave etc).

Sleeping 4, the lodge isn’t huge is cosy, but there’s still enough room to swing a cat. Don’t do that though – this farm is managed for wildlife. And yours will be a green holiday – your hot water is solar (with immersion backup) and all power is renewable, mostly from the on-site wind turbine. You can also borrow free bikes, BBQ or have a campfire, explore Wheatland Farm’s 21 acres (or take a free guided tour) and even go for a paddle on the pond.

Nuthatch Lodge at Wheatland Farm is near Winkleigh, deep in agricultural Devon but well placed to explore north to the coast and beaches or south to Dartmoor’s National Park. Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome, and Devon, of course, is blessed with charming traditional pubs offering oodles of character and good local food.

The owners live onsite and are always happy to help out. Free Wifi will keep a channel open to the outside world, but you might find you’re happier just switching off and plugging out.
