Millers Cottage in the Dorset pretty village of Beaminster is one of 6 countryside cottages in our courtyard setting featuring a rill. Built of stone it is full of rustic charm, warm and cosy, on one level with just a couple of steps up to the cottage.
Millers Cottage sleeps 3 having a double bedroom with zip and link beds making it flexible as a super king or twin room, and a single bedroom with some privacy. The bathroom with shower over bath is accessed via the single bedroom.
The very well equipped kitchen is open plan with full-size cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and washing machine. Sitting area has TV, DVD and CD/Radio.
A large enclosed garden overlooking the fields where cattle graze and deer, badger and foxes can sometimes be seen, is directly accessible from the cottage. Here you will find a picnic table and BBQ and sun-loungers are available from the Games room. There is extra seating outside the front of the cottage next to the rill.
Within the courtyard, there is also a Games room with table tennis, snooker, table football and a darts board. A large toy box for young children, books, jigsaws and OS maps of the area are also available here.
A laundry room is adjacent to the Games room with dryer and ironing facilities.
Dogs are very welcome and there are walks from the garden across the fields and footpaths connecting to long distance paths too.
Although very rural in a lush green valley with only a few other farms dotted around, there is a village with shop and pub within a mile of Bakers Mill. The pub is dog-friendly and serves good food and is happy to provide a takeaway for our visitors.
For those interested in coarse fishing we have fishing lakes a couple of miles along the country lane from Bakers Mill stocked with carp, tench and bream. In a very picturesque setting with far reaching views along the Axe Valley and close to our other local pub on the edge of a very historic village, this is a perfect place to while away a few hours.
Millers Cottage is perfectly situated for visiting the numerous historic towns in this part of West Dorset, East Devon and South Somerset and the heritage Jurassic coast. West Bay and Bridport are 20 minutes drive and the nearest coastal points. Dorchester and Yeovil are about the same distance. Sherborne, Lyme Regis and Charmouth are about 30 minutes drive. There are numerous ancient villages and market towns in the area and many gardens.
