A Gem of a House
Three generations of our family enjoyed a wonderful time in this gem of a house set on the edge of a lovely village and surrounded by fields. A large garden and a spacious interior meant that our two small grandchildren didn’t run out of hiding places during our four night stay. A five minute walk takes you to the centre of the village where there is a General store, Post Office and the Royal Oak pub which serves great food, both to eat in or takeaway, and where the staff and locals are all friendly and welcoming. We loved chilling in the evening in front of the open hearth fire with a glass of wine, and being over the New Year period, the Christmas tree, mistletoe and holly decorations were an unexpected but joyful bonus. It goes without saying that we will be visiting again in the future. The Osbornes
The Osbornes - January 2019
This period 4-bedroom Dorset farmhouse dates back to the 1600's and retains some of its original features. It has recently been completely renovated and central heating installed. It is furnished to present stylish self-catering accommodation in Dorset with antiques, while incorporating the comforts of modern living.
The Old Farmhouse in the village of Millbourne St. Andrew near Blandford Forum has a large sitting room and separate dining room as well as a small office offering wireless internet access. There is a lovely south facing conservatory.
Upstairs 1 bathroom and 2 shower rooms serve the 4 double bedrooms. Access to the first floor is by lift as well as stairs, making the bedrooms and bathrooms accessible for geusts with limited mobility.
The house is ideal for those with limited mobility, as it has a proper lift to the upstairs area, (by prior arrangement only). There is a large garden with plenty of room for the children to play. Also sun loungers and BBQ.
A good children's playground is just 100 yards up the road.
The house is within easy walking distance of the post office and village stores, providing basic provisions, and a pub.
The pretty Dorset village location in Milbourne St Andrew, offers easy access to the world famous Jurassic Coast and is in the centre of Thomas Hardy country - the fictional town of Casterbridge (Dorchester) being 8 miles distant.
The stunning coastline at Lulworth Cover and Durdle Door is just 14 miles away. About a 30 minute drive away is Weymouth Bay which boasts long and sandy beaches with traditional beach entertainments such as donkey rides and Punch and Judy.
Within 20 minutes, you can visit the acclaimed Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum. For the younger visitors Farmer Palmers is less than 30 minutes away.
A HOLIDAY TO REMEMBER
September 5th 2017
We had a lovely stay at Gould’s Farmhouse in Dorset. The house has plenty of room - we had 8 staying with 2 under 3 and 2 teenagers. The kitchen is well equipped and the lounge and dining areas spacious. The garden area is large with lots of places for the title ones to explore. The Farmhouse is in a lovely village with an excellent pub and local store nearby. And the village is accessible to Weymouth, Swanage, Bournemouth, Lulworth, Monkey World and the tank Museum. Nicola, the owner, is very helpful and made sure we had a holiday to remember. Can’t wait to go back again.
STUNNING, ATTRACTIVE AND TRADITIONAL
September 5th 2017
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at Gould's Farmhouse. It is a very stunning cottage, with an attractive garden, and traditional decor. Set in a quiet village, with nice views. Very easy to commute to the main attractions. Nicola was most helpful throughout our stay, and we look forward to returning one day.
