Dormouse Cottage offers family friendly self-catering accommodation near Bridport and West Bay. It has been lovingly restored, retaining original features and using local craftsmen to create a warm and comfortable home from home experience- as past guests regularly testify.
The ground floor of this pretty 18th Century cottage comprises a warm and cosy lounge with a wood burner and TV with DVD player. A separate snug will appeal to the young, having toys such as a wooden fort, a brio train set, other toys, books and traditional board games designed to keep young and old alike entertained. There is also a table tennis table in the adjoining garage.
The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances such as a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and cooker and all the necessary utensils to rustle up big breakfasts and dinners for hungry mouths. For local produce visit the Washingpool Farm shop on your way to Bridport or head into nearby Beaminster where there is a superb local butcher and a greengrocer waiting to stick your cottage larder.
Upstairs the bedrooms comprise 2 rooms each with a king-size bed and two with singles together with a bath room with a yew floor having a power shower, bath and WC. It is decorated using tiles hand-made by a local artist.
To the rear of Dormouse Cottage in Netherbury is a surprisingly large garden with apple trees and a lawn big enough in which to play games and secure enough for dogs to be let loose and run around. The garden contains a Weber BBQ and has tables and chairs for dining out under a canopy of stars on warm summer evenings.
Dormouse is in the quaint little West Dorset village of Netherbury within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty nestling under the hills of Marshwood Vale. There are plenty of walks to enjoy right from your front door (with or without dogs), and a traditional village pub to delay your arrival home at the end of your walk.
There is plenty to keep guests of all ages happy and entertained in West Dorset and easily fill a week or weekend break at Dormouse Cottage. Take a fishing tip from West Bay or a speed boat trip around Lyme Bay. Nearby Bridport has a thriving arts centre and the Electric Palace Cinema both of which the locals are inordinately proud, and quite rightly. Enjoy something such as pony trekking (or Llama trekking for a novel alternative), clay pigeon shooting, Go-carting or just take a tour of the beautiful National Trust properties in Dorset including Forde Abbey, Montecute House and Mapperton House. For something a little less strenuous, then there are plenty of beaches nearby on which to relax in the sun or demonstrate your prowess at sandcastles. Above all, this corner of Dorset is wonderful walking country, whether walking along the coast or strolling down deep Dorset lanes filled with flowers in spring and summer.
Should you decide to eat out in the evenings, remember, you are in the heart of River Cottage Country. Try the Riverside Restaurant at West Bay or The Hive Beach Caf in Burton Bradstock. Other highly recommended local pubs include The New Inn at Stoke Abbot, The Bull in Bridport and The Half Moon in Melplash. All in all, a holiday at Dormouse Cottage in Dorset will allow you to indulge in adding a few calories and then enjoy working them off again. Perfect!

'Wonderful break in a beautiful cottage!' by from Trip Advisor on August 16th 2016
We have just come back from a family weekend break at Dormouse Cottage and have had a lovely time. There were 5 adults and my 2 granddaughters age 4 years old and 3 months and there was plenty of room for all of us. The photos don't do the cottage justice, it is in a very attractive setting and the nearest beach was a 15 minute drive away. The power shower was excellent with plenty of hot water, the kitchen was very well equipped and the beds were hotel standard, very comfortable. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
'A great stay at Dormouse Cottage!' by Trip Advisor on April 11th 2016
We had a lovely relaxing stay at Dormouse Cottage. The house is comfortable and cosy - perfect for a family break, with everything you could want for from a holiday home - and more: our children were thrilled to have toys to play with! We love the area - with beautiful countryside and beaches to explore. A perfect family break. We will be back!
'Dormouse Cottage was superb!' by Trip Advisor on March 30th 2016
We loved Dormouse Cottage and Netherbury is a lovely village to stay in and we very much enjoyed walking around the local area. Dormouse has been very tastefully decorated and we would be very pleased to visit it again in the future. We found the cottage to be very well furnished and our daughter loved the games room and we all had a good laugh playing table tennis, so all round we loved Dormouse Cottage and the village of Netherbury.
