Ferndown is a charming town just north of Bournemouth, in Dorset, near the south coast and the New Forest. Take a wander from your Ferndown holiday cottage and you will discover a variety of independent businesses. In the town centre, on Penny’s Way, the Barrington Centre is a busy venue with a theatre hosting films, concerts and plays. A stroll around Holt Heath and Slop Bog is highly recommended. The market town of Ringwood is a 15-minute drive northward on the A31. Nestled on the banks of the River Avon with stunning views across the Dorset countryside, it is well worth a visit, with graceful Georgian and Victorian architecture, and a thriving weekly market.
A short drive eastward the New Forest National Park is an enchanting expanse of glades, open moors and clifftop walks. A 20-minute drive southward from Ferndown, Bournemouth’s seven-mile stretch of golden sand has been a favourite since the Victorian era. Stroll along the award-winning seafront, where a variety of attractions can be enjoyed. With surfing, go-karting, water-parks and aquariums, there’s no shortage of things to do. You will also discover a thriving food scene, a lively nightlife and a range of independent shops.
