Having stayed here frequently over the past 4 years, it has always been a very comfortable and relaxing environment, and always with friendly and thoughtful Hostesses. Highly recommended. The Elm Tree Pub in Langton Herring is always worth a visit as the standard of food may by some appear to be basic but very good. Their Sunday lunches are in particular, very good.

3 Lower Farm Cottage is situated on our working dairy farm on the outskirts of Langton Herring, a short distance away from the stunning Chesil Beach and Fleet Lagoon. The cottage is surrounded by open fields in which you are free to walk and join many public foot paths and indeed the Coastal Footpath runs very close to the cottage. 5 miles to the east is the seaside town of Weymouth which has a beautiful sandy beach and lovely safe and shallow water. 3 miles to the west is the village of Abbotsbury famous for its Swannery and Sub-tropical gardens. A little bit further on is the village of WestBay which was the location for the popular ITV series Broadchurch. Here you will find the stunning beach and cliffs which often formed the backdrop to the program.
The market town of Dorchester is a 15 minute drive away and is worth a visit, particularly to Brewery Square wucih is a new developement featuring an Odeon Cinema and many eating places such as Nandos, Pizza Express, Cotes, Zizzis and Waggamamas. Dorset is a fantastic place to explore and there are many country houses and gardens to visit. Also Monkey World, the Tank Museum at Bovingdon, Go Ape, Brenscombe Outdoor Center with its exhilarating high ropes and numerous beaches should keep all busy.

Well equipped Cottage
April 23rd 2019
Our second stay at Character cottages. We had lovely time. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed for the week. Spacious bedrooms, all the heating was on when arrived (visited in April and it was still cold). Tips for other travellers Lots to see and do in the area - fossil hunting at Charmouth, the swannery, children’s farm, sea life in Weymouth, monkey farm, lovely walks straight from the cottage, Lulworth - we didn’t go on this occasion but it’s the most stunning place and walks.
Our Favourite Cottage

Another lovely holiday in our favourite cottage. It never disappoints. It is always clean, comfortable and cosy and feels like our second home. We can't recommend these cottages highly enough. Fantastic walks from the cottages and beyond. There is an abundance of things to see and do. This part of Dorset is a hidden gem.

Loved our stay. The cottage was decorated for Xmas especially for us. Everything was perfect and we were sad to leave. Tips for other travelers - Go out for a walk. The New Barn Road to Abbotsford is wonderful.
Home From Home

I have been using Character Farm Cottages for many, many years and I have not once been disappointed. You get inside the cottage and it is like home from home. Flowers, ornaments, pictures on the wall, just brilliant. I love it. I also love the location. After a day out with lots of people it is nice to return to the tranquil setting at the cottage. There are also lots of different walks. Facilities are good too. Washing machine and dryer in the barn. Dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave etc in the cottage. Plenty of china and cutlery. There is a very comprehensive Folder full of places to go and places to eat etc. in the cottage. So no problem finding something to do. I very, very highly recommend Langton Herring and the cottages to everyone. I love it.

Very helpful and accommodating. Also we really appreciated the milk and tea bags so that we could all have a cup of tea on arrival after a long journey!
Well presented property

I was extremely pleased with how the property was prepared for our arrival particularly with our requirements regarding a baby. A friendly visit by the owner made us feel welcome and gave us some good local advice. Perfect location for exploring the Jurassic coast.
