The cottage is surrounded by open fields in which you are free to walk and join the many public foot paths and indeed the Coastal Footpath runs very close to the cottage. 5 miles to the east is the seaside town of Weymouth which has a beautiful sandy beach and lovely safe and shallow water. 3 miles to the west is the village of Abbotsbury famous for its Swannery and Sub-tropical gardens. A little bit further on is the village of West Bay which was the location for the popular ITV series Broadchurch. Here you will find the stunning beach and cliffs which often formed the backdrop to the program. The market town of Dorchester is a 15 minute drive away and is worth a visit, particularly to Brewery Square which is a new developement featuring an Odeon Cinema and many eating places such as Nandos, Pizza Express, Cotes, Zizzis and Waggamamas. Dorset is a fantastic place to explore and there are many country houses and gardens to visit. Also Monkey World, the Tank Museum at Bovingdon, Go Ape, Brenscombe Outdoor Center with its exhilarating high ropes and numerous beaches should keep all busy.
