Chestnut Cottage is situated on our working dairy farm on the outskirts of the tiny hamlet of Rodden, a short distance away from the stunning Chesil Beach and Fleet Lagoon. The cottage is surrounded by open fields in which you are free to walk and join many public foot paths and indeed the Coastal Footpath runs very close to the cottage. 5 miles to the east is the seaside town of Weymouth which has a beautiful sandy beach and lovely safe and shallow water. 3 miles to the west is the village of Abbotsbury famous for its Swannery and Sub-tropical gardens. A little bit further on is the village of WestBay which was the location for the popular ITV series Broadchurch. Here you will find the stunning beach and cliffs which often formed the backdrop to the program. The market town of Dorchester is a 15 minute drive away and is worth a visit, particularly to Brewery Square wucih is a new developement featuring an Odeon Cinema and many eating places such as Nandos, Pizza Express, Cotes, Zizzis and Waggamamas. Dorset is a fantastic place to explore and there are many country houses and gardens to visit. Also Monkey World, the Tank Museum at Bovingdon, Go Ape, Brenscombe Outdoor Center with its exhilarating high ropes and numerous beaches should keep all busy.

The cottage was just what we needed for a family time away. We cooked or Barbecued every day, and found there was all the cooking equipment we needed. The ground floor bedroom, wet room and access to kitchen diner and lounge worked well for Mum in her wheelchair. Ann was helpful, Checking we were well catered for. from the oldest (79) to the youngest(13) we all enjoyed our stay. A Sainsburys delivery was a good way to shop for so many people! We also booked Chelsea Cottage as there were 16 of us altogether. this was in close proximity to our cottage, just a short walk away. The views driving to and from the cottage in either direction were fabulous.

Ann was very helpful informing us about a few things in the area. We knew if we had a problem or wanted to know anything we could always ask. The cottage was so lovely and we were very lucky with the weather we didn’t feel the need to go out much, we sat in the garden most of the time.

Cottage has a very homely and friendly feeling. Everything you could wish for to make it a relaxing holiday. A personal touch with fresh flowers was most welcoming. As always, Ann, Jane and Jake are only too pleased to make our stay a happy one. Ford Abbey makes an excellent day out. Lyme Regis is a must. Excellent walks especially from Osmington Mills. Dorchester Museum is very interesting.Turks Head Chickerell is nice for meals. Rajpoot Dorchester if you enjoy Indian Cuisine.
Best Appointed Cottage

One of the best appointed self-catering cottages we have ever stayed at. Great to have ample cutlery, crockery, glasses etc. The kitchen/diner and living room were both excellent spaces. Super cream teas to be had at the Abbotsbury Tea Rooms. They even had gluten-free scones which was a great surprise for me
