From the outside, ivy-clad, Circus Mews makes a strong claim for being located on one of the prettiest streets in Edinburgh – and it is certainly a peaceful little backwater within walking distance of the city centre. Located in the New Town area, there are plenty of enticing bars, bistros, restaurants and high-end shops nearby, with the Castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood and many more of Edinburgh’s historic galleries, museums and other attractions being within walking distance. Circus Mews has its own private underground parking space near-by so there is no reason to use the car during your holiday unless exploring further afield.

The interior of this 2-bedroom Edinburgh holiday cottage surpasses even the external appearance, having been recently restored with true attention to quality. The luxury accommodation comprises:

• Spacious open plan ground floor living area, with large windows that let the sunlight flood in. Original artwork is displayed on the walls, beautifully lit by ceiling recessed downlighters. Seating includes a comfortable sofa and two armchairs. For evenings in, a large flatscreen TV with Freeview and DVD/CD player should provide entertainment during gaps in the conversation discussing the day’s activities or discussing where next to visit.

The dining area has a table for six.

The adjoining kitchen area means that chefs will always be in good company even when cooking alone. Fitted out to standards required for Visit Scotland’s 4-star accommodation grading, it includes an electric oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer (containing complimentary wine and chocolates), dishwasher, washer/dryer for laundry, toaster and a Nespresso coffee machine. There are plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery available enabling just about anything to be cooked and served, although it will be hard not to resist ‘ordering-in’ from some of the superb local takeaways in New Town.

• Both bedrooms have zip and link beds allowing them to be used as twin or double bedrooms, making Circus Mews suitable for a holiday for couples, of a family of 3-4. Each bedroom has wall mounted and bedside lights beneath their attractive brick and plaster ceilings.

• The bathroom has an invitingly deep bath with overhead shower. It is also underfloor heated, ensuring warm and cosy toes even in the depths of winter. It has plenty of counter space for soaps and toiletries (shower gel and conditioner are provided).

If arriving by car there is no need to worry about hunting for a parking space or worrying about traffic wardens! Circus Mews guests can use their own private parking space in the underground car park at the end of the street. There is an additional charge for this (so that non-car guests are not penalised). If required, Please request the parking space when booking).

Circus Mews was easy to find, comfortable and clean. Ali was extremely helpful and friendly, she arranged to meet us at the property and was very helpful informing us about the property and the surrounding area. The property is within walking distance of all the central attractions and is in an area where there are lots of cafes and restaurants.

Circus Mews is the perfect place to stay in Edinburgh. The other rave reviews are totally justified. We also felt that it couldn’t have been better. My son and I spent four days there very comfortably, after hiking in the Highlands. The apartment could easily handle four adults or a family of four. There are two spacious bedrooms, each with twin beds that can be pushed together to be king-sized. The location is ideal, on a picturesque street in New Town, only ten minutes from Princes Street (Waverly Station, Scott Monument, National Gallery, etc.). Lovely Stockbridge is literally around the corner, with artisanal cheese shops, green grocers, pleasant cafes and restaurants. For excellent dining nearby at reasonable prices, try The Scran and Scallie (an upscale gastro-pub) and the Kilted Lobster (great seafood) for fresh, local food. Although centrally located, the street is very quiet, and the bedrooms, facing back, are absolutely silent at night. The living area (living room, dining room, & kitchen on first floor) is also well equipped and maintained. The owners were easy to contact and conscientious. I would happily book this property again!
