Bridge Cottage

A delightful property situated on a large local estate alongside the River Dikler, Bridge Cottage in the small hamlet of Upper Swell, Gloucestershire, offers an ideal rural setting for a family holiday.

This two-storey waterside cottage was originally the gamekeeper’s cottage on the estate. Bridge Cottage sits next to a Grade II listed bridge over the river and backs onto private woodland. The large enclosed lawned garden offers views of the shallow, fast-flowing river and allows children and dogs to frolic in relative safety.

The inner hall on the ground floor opens onto the dining room, which boasts French windows leading to the garden. The fully fitted kitchen leads off from the left of the hall, whilst the large sitting room features a wood-burning stove, two leather sofas to sink into and watch your favourite show on the TV, and a stable door to the patio and garden.

The first floor of this child-friendly cottage boasts a master bedroom with vaulted ceiling, en-suite shower room, and TV with DVD player, as well as a double bedroom with en-suite and twin bedroom.

Above the adjoining garage, a chill-out room accessible via an outdoor wooden staircase features a sofa, armchair, and TV to get away from family and relax in solitude. The garage is not available for guests but for cycle storage, but the parking area has space for two vehicles.

Numerous walks and public footpaths surround Bridge Cottage, including the Heart of England Way running adjacent. You can walk to Lower Swell and its public house or continue along the footpaths to the charming villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter. Nearby Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the better known of the small Cotswolds market towns in the region.
