  • "A very comfortable property indeed with tasteful decoration throughout."

Outside, we thoroughly enjoyed the extensive garden and hot tub whilst inside, the Aga was a welcome feature on chilly days, and evenings round the log burner were so homely. It was an excellent base for our family celebrations as well as a great location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.

  • "Superb cottage with amazing, fully enclosed garden which is safe for dogs (note: there’s a pond in the garden but it has a wire fence around and netting over it)."

5 mins from Settle and lovely fell and river/waterfall walks literally from the door. Owner very helpful and friendly if needed. Would highly recommend for a very comfortable, very high quality stay for a relaxing break.

  • "Carrholme Cottage more than lived up to the description in the listing."

With its lovely large garden and hot-tub, together with direct footpath access from the cottage to a variety of walks onto the fells or by the riverside, it was perfect for our large three-generation family gathering.

  • "A beautiful period property, well appointed and presented."

Plenty of thought had been given to the guest information pack, which we found veryy useful. There was plenty of space for a multi-generational family to spread out and come together, even though most of our time at the cottage was spent indoors because of the weather. The exception was the hot tub which everyone loved. The grandchildren loved the small secret door between the two halves of the first floor. They had the twin rooms (one each) and their parents were just on the other side of the door. We were very happy with our stay and only wish it could have been longer, and with better weather!

Dear Jonathan, Thank you so much for your feedback, it’s hugely appreciated and we’re so glad you enjoyed your stay! With best wishes Lianne Property Owner

  • "The property didn’t meet our expectations for a number of reasons:- The Aga made the kitchen and dining area very warm."

Whilst this is ideal in winter it is a significant disadvantage in the summer. The owners should seriously consider switching the Aga off when warmer weather is expected The other cooker in the kitchen has an issue with its temperature gauge as on the two occasions we tried to use it to bake as our baking was spoilt as the temperature was far too low.

Dear Peter, We’re so sorry we didn’t meet your expectations. We really try to give our guests the best time possible time and take your feedback very seriously. The double oven is new, we have thoroughly checked and had it serviced but will continue to routinely check the temperature moving forward. We hope our guests enjoy the AGA experience, it takes a little getting used to and we leave a guide and an AGA recipe book. However we do understand it’s not for everyone. Again we’re so sorry your holiday fell short of your hopes. We’re really grateful that you let us know why, it means we can fix anything required moving forwards. With best wishes Lianne Property Owner

Plenty of room for all of us in a beautiful, comfortable and well equipped home. The children loved playing hide and seek and trying out the hot tub, not to mention toasting marshmallows! It was great to be able to go on a variety of walks straight from the front door as well as being close to Settle for any last minute shopping.

  • "Perfect location for exploring, far enough out of the town to feel properly rural and isolated but close enough to be able to nip into Settle for everything you would need from there."

House and garden are amazing, loved the hot tub and the wood burners and the beds were so comfortable. Only downside is the shared drive but that was a very minor thing compared to all of the positives.

Thank you Daniel, that’s much appreciated and it was lovely to have you stay with us. Property Owner

Great location with walks from the door. Comfortable rooms and beds. Very clean. Sitting in the hot tub at the end of the garden is wonderful. The kitchen is a good size. Only point to note is that with a couple of the bedrooms you have to go down stairs to get to the bathrooms.

Thank you Helen, We’ll ensure we point out that two of the bedrooms do require a trip downstairs, however there is the en-suite and a family bathroom upstairs too. It was lovely to have you stay and thank you again. Lianne Property Owner

  • "Carrholme Cottage was amazing!"

The cottage itself is around a 15 minute walk from Settle and is in such a picturesque location, with an incredible garden and hot tub to use. The house itself was absolutely spotless and the bed and duvet was so comfortable and of an extremly high quality, we slept like babies! Would definitely recommend this cottage for a group of people, we had an incredible time.

The location was excellent, close enough to walk to settles wonderful pubs, cafe and shops but with direct access out onto the hills. The cottage facilities (huge hot tub in particular) and beautiful tasteful decor far exceeded expectations with the cleanliness second to none. A real gem of a find.

  • "Let me start by saying that it is a beautiful cottage, done to a high spec and is just gorgeous to look at."

However, there were cobwebs over the range and in the kitchen and also skirting boards -as we bent down to plug something in, we noticed were not clean. We would have expected a tea towel and salt and pepper as basic provision but there were none. We also had to find our own charger for the blue-tooth speakers as they were flat and no charger could be found. (One broken one was found) There was a baking tray we went to use that had been put away unclean - and I mean, baked on food and grease. The owners could also have popped an explanation in their do's and don'ts (mostly don'ts!) about the town parking disc situation and some take away menus perhaps. Loved the cottage, and company was fab, but would not stay there again because of all the aggro and lack of detail. Shame.

We're so sorry that you felt our cottage let you down, we take immense pride in our cleanliness scores and we're very sorry that in this instance things weren't as they should be. There are a few small points, the chargers for example were found left where detailed in the guest instructions, as were the salt/pepper and tea towels. We really appreciate your feedback and suggestions, especially as it allows us to immediately fix any problems and improve things for guests moving forward. Property Owner

The garden was pretty and the hot tub was an added bonus which the children loved. My only niggle was the downstairs en suite lacked a shelf as there was no where to put toiletries, no mirror and perhaps a hook on the door would help, and 3 toilet rolls for 4 bathrooms for 13 people!! Needless to say we had to go shopping! Yes we would recommend Carrholme it's a beautiful cottage in a lovely part of the dales.

Arrived for my 60th Birthday Weekend with all my family including four little ones, there was lots of space for everyone to unwind. The bedrooms were so comfy and warm, but take some logs for the fire if you are travelling in winter, it makes the lounge so snug and warm. The secret at the bottom of the garden, the hot tub, was just brilliant.Lying looking up millions of tars on a January night outside was worth a million dreams. Great for touring the area, lots of pubs in Settle close by. All in all..brilliant.

  • "Carrholme Cottage is highly recommended."

The owner, Lianne was extremely helpful and immediately responsive to our queries. The cottage is beautiful and decorated to a high spec, in fact it exceeds the pictures on the website. Lianne had also decorated the cottage for Christmas which was very much appreciated. We had 12 people and a dog and the cottage easily and comfortably accommodates that party size. It is deceptively large with lots of space inside and out. The garden is lovely at any time of year, hot tub and firepit were made good use of during our New Year holiday. The location is great with easy access to walks from the doorstep. The resident owl made an appearance and we were treated to an amazing firework display by the neighbours. Definitely five stars.

! A stunning cottage, that very comfortably accommodated 12 of us. The cottage it’s self was beautiful with a great mix of modern decor and stacked with period features. All mod cons, a great dining space for big family meals/after dinner games with a cosy log burner. The living room and snug were great, adults and children could have their own space but still be close and again another log burner made it so cosy. The bedrooms were all gorgeous and really spacious. Outside the beautiful garden and the ‘Secret Spa’ was just fab. Drinking fizz in the hot tub surrounded by birdsong, the resident owl and having pheasants totter across the lawn was just brilliant! Can not recommend enough - will be back!

The market place is surrounded by local businesses, the centre being dominated by The Shambles, an historic three storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool. The Victoria Hall has entertainment and other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country.
