  • "Two super cottages for a family get-together."

They worked perfectly for us, and were within easy reach of some local areas of interest. The weather wasn't great, but as we wanted to spend time as a family we enjoyed staying in, and made full use of what the cottages had to offer. Friendly owners, and everything we needed, even the addition of a well-kitted out utility area with washing machine, tumble drier and clothes racks. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Cottage was definitely as described - on a working farm which didn't hinder us at all. The bed was so comfy and the sheets smelt devine. Will definitely be recommending the cottage

The bedrooms were so cosy and really comfy beds. The setting was perfect and tranquil. Really loved the garden at the back, and would have appreciated a light out there for the warm evenings and for safety on the steps. Beautifully clean cottage and would love to stay again for a longer period. Thank you and hope to be back soon.

We received a very friendly welcome from Jill & Joanne on our arrival. The cottage has all the facilities you need and a welcome pack with essentials provided. The location is central for all attractions in the Peak District without having to drive too far and plenty of walking opportunities from the doorstep. We had a great week and would happily return and recommend

  • "This is an excellent cottage, lovely hosts, excellent accommodation, well equipped, lovely welcome, very comfortable."

Everything you could want or need. Also available are a small selection of books, puzzles and games. Ideal for a couple or with one child, however next door is a bigger property. The cottage is spacious with parking outside. The countryside around is wonderful and picturesque. This cottage is ideally situated for walkers and if you don’t walk but like to visit places, then this is the cottage for you. It’s situation is in the middle of the countryside, it’s peaceful, but only a mile or so from the main road where within 10 - 15 minutes drive you can be in Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and Matlock Bath. Also worth a visit is Ashbourne and the wonderful Carsington Water and Cromford and the Cromford Canal. Also worth a visit is Chatsworth House. This is a property that we will definitely return to.

We visited Bolsover Castle, lots of heritage industrial sites in and around Cromford and Matlock - Lumsdale Valley, Cromford Canal; Tissington, Monsal Trail and High Top, the fantastic High Peak Bookshop and cafe, Fenny Bentley Coach and Horses, Hurdlow Royal Oak, Wirksworth "Mistral", Buxton and the Museum plus the shops at Ashbourne. All a bit cultural and with some costs involved but walking along the many tracks and lanes to find the various archaeological sites was free, the weather fantastic, and the countryside looked pristine - great for anyone with interests in drawing, painting or photography - I was very happy on these outings! About the location

WINSTER

Bakewell 6 miles; Matlock 4.5 miles.

The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring. The village of Winster is famous for its Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, Wakes festivities in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July. Within the village there is a well-stocked, community-owned general store incorporating a Post Office. There are two pubs, both serving food and traditional beer. Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth House, and the Peak Rail Steam Railway are all nearby and, for keen walkers and cyclists, The Limestone Way runs along the edge of the village. The Tissington and High Peaks walking and cycling trails, with bike hire available, both lie less than 5 miles from the village, a wonderful base for exploring the Peak District.
